The outpouring of love for this place reminds me very much of when Lounge Ax closed here, in Chicago. Sounds like the same type of thing. And, even though I have never been to Hoboken, it makes me sad that we are loosing another club like this.

The Song Remains the Same is below sub-par live Zep. If you want to hear something that would convince you why they were a live juggernaut, you should listen to How the West Was Won. Now THAT is a live set!

Seriously. Who the fuck would throw a bottle or anything at Toots?!
-
Yup. Cheeky.

Ooh, and I saw Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham opening for Nick Lowe, they opened the set with "Cry Like a Baby" A great way to start.

Okay, so these are CONCERT-openers, not album-openers! Had to get that straight. Now I'll have to think on that for a while. I DO remember my jaw hitting the floor as soon as Uncle Tupelo played their first song, the first time. But, since it was my first time hearing them, I don't remember which song it actually was. (I kinda remember it being either "Graveyard Shift" or "Whiskey Bottle" but, as I said, it was my first time seeing them, so I can't be sure.)

Am I the last to know that The Replacements are playing shows?
PopTodd replied to Hixter's topic in Someone Else's Song
So I guess that historic last show that I was at in 1991 is no longer their last show. Still great to hear. And the EP was great. Hoping that they will continue to record together for a while. -
Nice. Been a long time since I've heard that one. Need to find it if I can.

looks like I missed 3 songs that they have available on iTunes. Still, only 3/8ths. Grrrr...... http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/mckinleys/id164093365

Hoping that they were collected somewhere. On some CD. Or something. Does anyone have the capability of DLing the audio from the YouTubes into mp3 format? I used to, but with a new (work) computer, I can no longer do so.

First heard this song covered by The Bangles, which led me to the original: Just awesome. I loved that it rocked just a bit harder than most girl groups—a little more garage. Hearing more on YouTube showed me their range. Sadly, I do not seem to be able to find ANY collection of theirs out there ANYWHERE, just a song here and there, but really nothing to GET. Just the YouTubes: Do any of you have their singles collected anywhere? Care to hit me up with the info? Thanks!

I have a graphite nut in my Strat and talk about frictionless... never have tuning issues.

Not sure where you live, but if you are in or near Chicago, I know an amazing guitar tech/luthier to send you to. http://chicagoguitarrepair.com The guy can do just about anything.

Eno-related: What can you tell me about this album?
PopTodd replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'm reading it now. It's a little slow-going. Boring in parts, but other parts are damn interesting. I pick it up and put it down. Still, I just love the way the guy thinks. -

100% agree. I was so excited to pick it up. But once the needle hit the grove, I was completely deflated. Just awful.
