  1. It was a helluiva lot of fun and an excellent first concert for my son. As to the band's performance: tight as hell. They are excellent musicians and Nate (singer) can hit those high, high notes in full-voice, without needing to go to a falsetto. Extremely impressive and powerful as hell. A really great singer. I have even more respect for the band after seeing them play.
  2. For me, Electr-O-Pura is where I began and I still think it's a great place to start. It's a great cross-section of all the parts of their sound, from the pop ("Tom Courtenay") to the noisy ("Blue Line Swinger") to the soft and beautiful ("As the Hour Grows Late"). Also, "Pablo and Andrea" has one of my favorite guitar solos of all-time. (It begins at about 2:45 and just does everything that a guitar solo is supposed to do.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxq3GD93GS0
  3. My family owned a health food store when I was a kid so, needless to say, Hostess was never on the menu or even in the house.
  4. Since I'm generally not on the board over the weekend: Sunday night -- Fun. Elmhurst College. Taking my 11 y.o. to his first concert. Glad that I like this band, too.
  5. Anyone ever see this movie? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aFBn8hPugc It's brilliantly awful. I love it.
  6. And I think that I remember hearing that he's also a great soccer player. Just an athelete, I guess. He certainly has the lung capacity for the endurance it takes.
  7. Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs, Kansas, Deep Purple) got his commercial pilot's license and actually flew commercial flights for a while.
  8. PARIS A gangster rapper from the 90s, with hits like "The Devil Made Me Do It" and "Bush Killa" became a stockbroker.
  9. Love, love, love YLT. Guess I'm gonna have to pick this one up.
  10. I got this story first, back in 1993, when I was in college and interviewed Richard for the Carbondale Nightlife. But I never got the WHOLE story until a couple of years ago. It's a good one. Here it is. http://www.guitarworld.com/richard-lloyd-scuse-me-while-i-hit-guy
  11. Lyle's audience banter is some of the best that I've heard. Dryer than Stephen Wright and just as funny.
