  1. Oh, and did I see Richard Thompson in there, or was he another huge oversight?
  2. Honestly, I think that it's a pretty cool list, with a lot of more-outside inclusions than you usually see in stuff like this. Some of my favorites who are never/rarely mentioned get mentioned here, or get much higher ranking than you usually see. Best inclusions: Ira Kaplan David Pajo Annie Clark Curt Kirkwood Greg Sage Nile Rodgers Dr. Know ROBERT QUINE!!!! (my all-time fave) Steve Albini Sonny Sharrock d. boon Andy Gill Verlaine/Lloyd Moore/Renaldo The biggest oversights, in my eyes: Elliot Easton (The Cars) Chris Difford (Squeeze) Those guys can play!
  3. Slowly acquiring the entire Barry Adamson discography. Don't have that one yet, though. Love B.A. Today's selection por moi:
  4. Streaming isn't working for me.
  5. "We Call Upon the Author" is classic Cave.
  6. Heard this interview on Morning Edition on my way in to work: http://www.npr.org/2012/05/01/151685956/norah-jones-on-comfort-zones Sounds good. Still sounds like Norah, but... not.
  7. My friend John covering Madonna:
  8. I only just found out recently that it was a cover. Nonetheless, it's a damn good cover. Detracts not at all from my enjoyment.
  9. Living in a glass house, I suppose that I shouldn't, but... you know that we've done this, like 5 or 6 times already? Nonetheless... it IS a fun thread.
  10. Best Coast - Tour CD-R Collection of home-recorded singles that they sold at shows before they released their debut. A lot fuzzier than the debut and, IMO, it's a little better, too. Better songs. "The Sun Was High (and So Was I)" is something that should have been on the album! Looking forward to the new one, though.
  11. That's the one that they did BEFORE they recorded as a trio with Suzzy, right? How is it?
  12. I really wish that I got from the Whigs what so many others seem to. They make their fans so very ecstatic, I just never was really so moved by them, despite having tried many times. However, it's been about a decade since I've really given them a listen, so I think maybe I'll try again. Gentlemen is the place to start, right?
  13. A bunch of Chicago high school kids playing jazz-inflected RnB, with a really good, smooth MC rapping. Great vocals, great playing, great flow. EDIT: Didn't know this piece of info, but think that it would be of interest to this board, in particular: http://www.avclub.com/chicago/articles/jeff-tweedy-producing-chicago-band-kids-these-days,65530/
  14. My 12-year-old son was looking over my shoulder at this thread last night and was completely intrigued.
