Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left/Bryter Layter The J. Giles Band - Full House (Live) De La Soul - De La Soul Is Dead The Webb Brothers - Marroon

I brought in some J. Giles band today, so I guess that I've been a bit more on the lookout for related music. And, I just saw a (4.5-star) review for this at AllMusic: Sounds pretty good, no? But I trust all of y'all more than I do AllMusic. So, any of you heard this? Is it all that great? Just some fawning over an old guy who's been around a while?

I read your earlier post that the lyrics were gibberish. But I was just wondering where the artist was from. You answered my question... they're from Italy. (They speak Portugese in Brazil, anyway.) Thanks!

Brazilian?

What can any of y'all tell me about this album? This song was recommended to me by a friend here at work, so I checked it out at YouTube: Damn. Here is what AllMusic had to say about their (apparently only) album: I like what I'm hearing. Anybody?

Big Audio Dynamite - Megatop Phoenix The Chamber Strings - A Month of Sundays Freakwater - Feels Like the Third Time Songs: Ohia - The Magnolia Electric Co. Teenage Fanclub - Songs From Northern Britain It's been a while since I've heard that BAD and it's sounding really good this morning. I forgot how many songs on here I really liked.

It's a King Thing - Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo. First listen now and, it's good, but a little twee for me these days: mostly his voice, which is just too fey. But the melodies are solid and the playing and production are also good. Maybe a couple more listens and I'll get past that voice.

I so totally need this,

Here's one of my earlier name drops, Barry Adamson, in a live setting. I have yet to see him, myself, but I want to! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07gs84EBgxA

Also, I would like to send a message to you all: If you have more than one band (or more than one album) represented at IAC, please let me know, so that I can put up a song from each band/album on that VC playlist.

I got it. Added the song to the VC playlist. And am listening now. I like it! Hope you listen to everybody there, too. There are some really talented folks at this board!

Time to revive this thread again! I want to give a shout-out to... Blue Ruin Featuring the former drummer from The Birthday Party (Nick Cave's old band), Phil Calvert. BR mines the blues vein running through the old band's music a little more deeply. To me, they sound like what the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion would sound like if they were dead-serious, and genuinely dangerous. I posted this (terrible) video in another thread. It's for the first song from their second album (and the only album of theirs that I have ever heard), Flame. Like I said, terrible video, but close your eyes and liste

Hey! I like that Weezer video!

Hey Ajax: Read the first post in the thread. If you could start a page a http://iacmusic.com that would be the way to go, as I am trying to create a VC-only playlist over there, for easy sampling of all of our projects. I think that they still have a free option, if you wanted to start one up, that would be excellent!

Blue Ruin - "Bad Gin" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqj9Lq3GqGU Yeah, that's right: it's 1987.

No. It's not Willie Nelson.

The song will not be obscure, but the lyric will be something that is not necessarily a well-known line from the song. The only rule is that it must be recognizable as as lyric; nothing like "Hello." and that's it. Whoever guesses the clue correctly gets to provide the next clue. So, with that in mind, here's the first: "You must be a limousine" guesses?

The Wonder Stuff - The Eight-Legged Groove Machine Purchased at the recommendation of folks who said that it is better than Never Loved Elvis. First listen: I am digging it a lot. But I still think that Elvis is a better record. At any rate: thanks for inspiring me to finally pick this one up, because it is a wonderful purchase.
