I hate to be one to contribute to the "they were better when they were stoned" mentality. But yeah, in this case, they really were.

They haven't been so good since they got clean, anyway. What is that? 20 years? 25 years? Still, good for them for cashing in; they deserved it. And now, they'll live to enjoy it.

Seriously. My label is no longer investing in pressing of CDs; he claims that it's throwing money into the fire. A waste. I mean, I'll be available on iTunes and eMusic, but personally, as a musician, if I don't have that physical document in my hand, I feel like my time in the studio has been something of a waste. And I cannot afford to press vinyl LPs. That's for sure. So... my new album will be a (very) short run -- of 500 -- that I'll be paying for, myself. I am seriously considering picking up this collection: I mean, I know that he's pretty hokey. But, a lot of these songs are a lot of fun, even after hearing them hundreds of times. Check it out: Are there any fans here? Or am I now the object of (more) ridicule?

Good post, Neon. And, my heart is with you. I can respect the beliefs of others, up to the point where they infringe upon the basic rights of others. Sadly, dogmatic hate mongering will most-likely never completely go away. But I do believe, like you, that we will eventually extend basic freedoms to everybody in this country. Also, I believe that, if challenged in the highest courts, eventually the laws banning gay marriage/unions will be struck down under the Civil Rights acts.

Just heard these guys at this site that I frequent (IACMusic.com), and I think that they deserve your ear: Strippop An Italian band that reminds me a lot of James' work with Eno in the 90's. I like it a lot. It's only 2 songs, but I am curious to hear more. Curious to know what y'all think, too.

I bought them, and just gave them a first listen. Both are pretty much just Martin, all by himself with an acoustic guitar, playing some pretty good folky BritPop. Melody is king, as always; and I like it like that!
