  1. Just added: "Fountains of Wayne Hotline" - Robbie Fulks so brilliant.
  2. Ones that are about writing songs, or that refer to the PROCESS of songwriting, or that are metaphors for the songwriting process. I'm thinking about making a mix of such songs. Any suggestions? So far I have: "Major to Minor" - The Settlers "G to D" - Sloan "Love Song" - Brinsley Schwarz "I Love My Label" - Nick Lowe ?

  9. A friend of mine claims that the use of that word and his lisp are identical to portions of his performance in My Dinner With Andre. I never saw Andre, so are there thoughts about this? Odd.
  10. And, I remember hearing "Feeling" on the radio, too. That's what finally pushed me over the edge to purchase the album. But this thread is about the prospect of a NEW La's album. I mean, this could be really freaking amazing. (Unless it's a money grab, in which case it could suck.)
  11. It's a very wise $2 that you just spent, Louie. Unless, of course, you are not a fan of Beatlesque BritPop; in which case you will regret parting with your hard-earned 8 quarters. But if you do like that kind of thing... oh, you will be so happy!
  12. Either you're being sarcastic, or you've never heard the album. If you haven't heard it, you should; it's a stone-cold classic.

  15. SOURCE From May 28, '09. Surprised that somebody didn't post about this earlier. (I didn't, did I?): It would be good news if it did happen. Curious if any of you all have heard any more news on this.

  19. Just ordered this from Amazon: I've heard that it's pretty cheezy. But. seeing as how I have actually been IN the Castle at Otranto, I don't see how I can go through the rest of my life without reading this!
  20. A few years back, I played a Gene Clark Tribute/charity show at the old Nevin's Live in Evanston. Okay, so he got there later and, as the only solo/acoustic performer, I played first, so he probably didn't see ME, but George Wendt ("Norm" from Cheers) was in the audience. That was kinda cool. Also, at one of my old band's final show (at the Lounge Ax), John Haggerty (Naked Raygun/Pegboy) and Larry Damore (Pegboy) were there and saw us play. They were nice and complimentary. One more thing: That same band's rehearsal space was in our drummer's huge apartment on Belmont. His roommate was one o
