Led Zeppelin - How the West Was Won Love - Forever Changes various artists - Live From Sound Opinions: Vol. 1

Congratulations!
-
Def Leppard - YEAH! All covers of great glam and straight-up rock from the late 60's and early 70's. It's the stuff that inspired the band to play music in the first place and, let me tell you, the guys have good taste! Pooh-pooh if you will, but this is just a great rock band playing great old songs that they love and having a grand old time with it!

Terence Trent D'Arby - Introducing the Hardline... Son Volt - The Search The Replacements - Pleased to Meet Me Cornershop - When I Was Born For the 7th Time

I like Caesar's tunes, too. Not as much as David and Louie's songs, but they're a nice, gritty counterpoint. And, I do have the first Latin Playboys disc (which, incidentally, also features Tchad Blake and Mitchell Froom). It's a fun, strange side project... like Los Lobos on a bad acid trip. (I mean that in a good way.)

This CD arrived yesterday, to replace my old worn-out vinyl: Los Lobos - La Pistola y El Corazón And, it is hard for me to express how much I love this album. For that matter, I could say the same about Kiko or How Will the Wolf Survive? Let's just talk about these guys and how they are (arguably) the most-amazing American band of the last 20 years or so. Because it's — you know — the right thing to do.

60. Damn. Baby, he was born to... what? RUN? Are you kidding me? With THESE knees?!?! Happy birthday, Boss!

So, I am going. Should be fun.

That's pretty good stuff, right there.

Is The Independent the paper that runs Martin Newell's funny little poems every week?

If we're pushing it, like some of the above: "Shotgun Willie" by Willie Nelson on the album Shotgun Willie It's stretching the rules a bit, but if the above qualify, then so does this.

Willie Nelson - Shotgun Willie The Jam - Direction, Reaction, Creation (disc 3) James - Laid Songs: Ohia - Magnolia Electric Co. The Sea and Cake - Car Alarm

Still think he hid behind a wall of feedback?

Still waiting for it to grow on me a bit. A little disappointing so far, but I am going to show some faith in Jarvis' talents and give it a few more listens. I am a fan of the man, in general. (And of Albini, as a producer/recording engineer.)

Taking another risk that you may have heard this classic... To scratch your MMJ psychedelic itch: The 13th Floor Elevators - The Psychedelic Sounds of The 13th Floor Elevators -
I also won tix to see Ringo a few years ago! And yeah, it was a really fun show. (He had Billy Squier, Rod Argent, and Edgar Winter in his band at the time.) Glad that I went then. Maybe I'll go this time.
-
I was thinking about that. Wife is a Deadhead and I may just give her the tix and stay home with the kids while she goes with a friend.
-
I like him okay and all, but I'm not a HUGE fan, or anything. The guy is a really good pianist. And he has some pretty good songs. So, tell me... is he worth going to see for someone like me? Getting a babysitter and all that? And yeah, I DO seem to win a lot of stuff like this. It's kinda cool.

Last night, I caught the first 15 minutes of THIS on PBS: Leonard Cohen - Live in London

YES! I actually owned On Avery Island first... before they released Aeroplane, and had to grow into the second one, because Ioved the first one so much. Now I like Aeroplane better, but the first album is still outstanding. If you love their sound, you'll love both albums.
