My son is going as 2D from the band Gorillaz: (That's not him, but that's a pretty good costume that I think I'm gonna send to my wife to think about for him.)

GtrPlyr: You have too many of my favorite bands in your "NP" posts for me to ignore... Nilsson, Millennium, etc., etc...

I can't stand Adam Sandler. Maybe more a jealousy thing; he's getting rich doing the same things that I got in trouble for in 7th and 8th grade.

Has this show been funny at ALL since around 1992 or so?

They are obsessed with these guys. Between the 2 of them, they have purchased every CD, including B-sides and remixes. And my oldest even has the "official autobiography: Love their music or hate it, I am impressed with the mythology and backstory that these guys have created for this project. And I'm enjoying the hell out of watching my kids get so into this music that is pretty challenging for most 8 and 10-year-olds. It's fun. Plus: I like the music, too. And I'm enjoying getting them into Blur because of this. And, my 8-year-old is going as 2D (the Albarn character) for Halloween.

Get this book: It will tell you all. Andy White DID play on a couple of Beatle sessions in the early years, and it may have been "Please Please Me", but I can't remember offhand. That book is ESSENTIAL reading for any Beatles geek, or music fan, in general.

If it's too hard for you, tell her "tough shit". Not to be petty, but if she hurt you, she should not be able to continue doing so by maintaining a presence in your life, just because SHE wants to be friends. Be a little selfish this time. And, more importantly, be honest,

I am still looking for an English-language (subtitled), Region 1/Region 0 version of this movie and am having no luck finding it ANYWHERE! Anyone have any new info?

I always space what it is that I want once I finally have some money to spend on these things. I've been thinking about Chelsea Girl (Nico), Caetano Veloso's s/t 1969 album, or maybe the new Yo La Tengo (although what I've been hearing about that one has made me cautious). So, what new music is there that I should consider? What old stuff? I always find it fun to make recs. like this. Now it's your turn. Thanks, in advance.

Whats your favorite "fuck you" song?
PopTodd replied to junkbond_trader's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think that I posted this in the "break-up songs" thread, but it seems to go better here. So, here you go: FUCK YOU! Tracklisting: H-A-T-R-E-D - Tonio K. It's Business As Usual - Barry Adamson All You Do is Talk - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Take This Job And Shove It - Johnny Paycheck Jackson - Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better - The Byrds You're Breaking My Heart - Harry Nilsson I'll Be Gone - Papas Fritas Guts - John Cale Your Fucking Sunny Day - Lambchop These Boots are Made for Walking - The Birthday Party Stay With Me - Faces -
Love that album. Although, for my money, the high point is still "Tender"; it goes on for some 7-1/2 minutes and still could go on longer. An equally great break-up song.

Then, of course, I made this mix: A collection of songs that I like that, in one way or another, say "FUCK YOU!". And not a Dylan song in sight. FUCK YOU! Tracklisting: H-A-T-R-E-D - Tonio K.
