Your favorite 80's American "college rock" band

Reading comprehension: FAIL. -
I can't listen at MySpace -- a lot of us can't; we're blocked by a firewall. And, unless the songs are up at IACMusic.com I cannot add them to the station there; that's the whole point of this thread. Can you DL them from MySpace, or rip them from a CD and then post them at the link up above? Again, that would make it a lot easier for all of us to hear it -- all on one page. I could post my band page links here, too... but that is not the point. Please read the first post to see what I'm talking about. Thanks! I really want to hear you,

Very sad. I used to love that show, in spite of myself. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1626376/20091116/story.jhtml Although I don't think I'll ever forgive him for "launching the career of Adam Sandler."

Isn't he already animated?

Don't you musicians want us all to listen?

Excellent! Looking forward to adding you to the page over there. -
I put up another thread here: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/42244-a-central-depository-for-vcers-music/ with a suggestion for how to make it easy for everyone to hear you. Sorry for the repeat, but due to the lack of response, I just wanted to make sure that the other (pinned) thread was seen. If it was, and there is no interest, I'll drop it.

I think that, if you post it at YouTube, I can put it up at the station. And, thanks! I am looking forward to hearing your "turgid" covers. Seriously, I think it will make it easier for everyone to hear everyone else. And that's a good thing. We got some talented people here.

Upload them to that IAC site, and then I can put it on the same page as other VCers' stuff. And then we can all hear everybody's music in the same place. You see the logic? It's better for everybody; more exposure and more listens for us all, when you can hear all of us in the same place. Easier access and all that.

Mods: Thanks for stickying this. Now we just need some more takers... posting their IAC links! And this is only for established VCers; no street teamers, please. We got a few people on there -- and I'm only posting one song per band. But, if you have more than one band (like I do), feel free to post the link to each of your bands' pages and I will get a song up from each one. (But don't try gaming me, or I will eliminate the extraneous songs.) Also, if there is one specific song that you want on the station to represent your music, please let me know so I can put that one on the statio

I am, at best, a hipster replacement. -
There is a lot of VCers' music here: http://iacmusic.com/viachicago In order to get your music on that page, join up at http://iacmusic.com It's free and the streaming player is one of the better-sounding players that I have ever heard. Also, when all the VCers have all their music up at the same place (especially one that most places aren't blocking), it'll make it easier for us all to hear what you got. All styles are welcome. The free artist page allows you to upload 2 songs for streaming. Of course, they have a pay option available, too. Anyway, those of you who have seen my p

Colin Moulding is at least the equal of Andy Partridge as a songwriter; on some albums he's better. And: Lovesexy is one of the best 3 or 4 records that Prince ever made. -

I had them as a part of my original poll, but figured they weren't as high-profile as some of the others that I added, instead. Great, great band. -
It's easy to miss, but: Brinsley Schwarz - Cruel to Be Kind deserves to be there.

Thread title: Your favorite 80's American "college rock" band Also, see explanation in first post. But yeah, they are one of my favorite bands, too. (In fact, I have the Dukes Of Stratosphear with me at work today.) -

Henry Rollins is just a poor man's Jello Biafra, who is just a poor man's (or Californian's) Johnny Rotten. -

Gene Clark was the best songwriter The Byrds ever had, not Roger McGwinn; not even Gram Parsons. (and, speaking of The Byrds): David Crosby has been the weak link in more great bands than anyone in rock history. -
Listened to the samples and I liked it a lot. Sounds a lot like Songs: Ohia or The Magnolia Electric Company, with little flecks of Wilco thrown in for good measure. I'm thinking that I'm gonna buy this sometime soon. Keep reminding me or I may forget to do so! Nice.

1. Joe Jackson's "Breaking Us in Two" is the best song of the 1980s Could be. But I think it's probably "Fall On Me". 2. Paul McCartnery never wrote a good song after the Beatles broke up (Jenny Wren is close). Four words: Band On the Run (the entire album, I mean!) 3. Les Paul is (was RIP) the most important music figure of the 20th century Completely agree. 4. Fionna Apple is the most under-rated female artist of her generation. This could be true. 5. AC/DC sucks Intermittently true. 6. Terrestial radio sucks (how many times can they recycle those same dozen classic rock songs? My -

Although I love Caetano Veloso, Tom ZĂ© is an immeasurably more interesting artist than Caetano.
