I was just singing "Crazy Train" to myself this morning and two things occurred to me: 1. The lyrics suck a big bag of wet pubic hair. 2. This is a truly great song, despite that fact. I'm having a hard time thinking of other songs like that, but I'm sure that there are many. Maybe something by The Sweet? T. Rex? (Glam bands seem a likely target crowd.)

Jim Ford - Point Of No Return The German label that is releasing all these Jim Ford comps is a godsend. This is an artist that needs to be discovered by more people -- LOTS more people! For fans of Nick Lowe, Dan Penn, Harry Nilsson, and The Band. Harry Nilsson - Harry/Nilsson Sings Newman I have become obsessed with all things Nilsson and this did not disappoint. Camper Van Beethoven - Telephone Free Landslide Victory Coming back to an all-time favorite. It holds up every bit as good as I hoped it would. Maybe better. Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (remaster) If I have to say anything about

Good call. I like them a lot.
-
I like it a lot. It may be the my second-favorite album of the year (after Cornershop). Reminiscent of a drugged-out Latetia Sadier. Or maybe a more-modern Nico.
-
Big Star - Third/Sister Lovers Too Much Joy - Cereal Killers Caetano Veloso - Transa Ry Cooder - Into the Purple Valley (plus) Cherry Twister - At Home With Cherry Twister
-
He recorded at more places than the LAx -- Aadam Jacobson was his name, I think. (Yeah, the 2 "a's" are not a typo.) I have a recording of Big Star that he made at Metro back in '94; a show that I was at.
-
I like Mars Audiac Quintet. It's the most song-focoused of their releases; the mosts-accessible with the most hooks.
-
She also has that Joan Jett look, circa 1982. Hot.
-
The Wonder Stuff - Never Loved Elvis Son Volt - The Search Sybris - Into the Trees John Coltrane - A Love Supreme Cate Le Bon - Me Oh My
-
I saw Joe when he toured for Earthquake Weather. He got up for an encore and dedicated a song "...for that Big Audio Dynamite pussy, Mick Jones!" Then he played "Love Kills". I don't think The Clash were ever going to reunite. But... RIP, Joe. We do miss you.

Nice stuff, Nettles! Reminds me more than a little of The Jayhawks. Great guitar tone, too. I'm adding "Brother Jaybo's Tune", but there is something wrong with "100% Mobile"; I can't get that one to stream. You may want to try re-upping that one.

I was contacted by the writer of this article for some comments about Lounge Ax. http://gapersblock.com/transmission/2009/12/21/recasting_the_lounge_ax/ Why me? I'm the guy who started the "I Miss the Lounge Ax" Facebook group, so I guess that they figured that I'd have something to say. Petty good article. And yeah, I still do miss the Lounge Ax.

Not sure about singles and whatnot. I bought it pretty much solely based upon description and the word of Gruff Rhys. But there are streaming tunes at her myspace page. That's all what I know. And that I like it.

Just arrived in the mail and it may be the my second-favorite album of the year (after Cornershop). Caveat: I have not heard nearly as many new releases as many of you, but this is a good one. Reminiscent of a drugged-out Latetia Sadier. Or maybe a more-modern Nico. I like it.

Just arrived: Cate Le Bon - Me Oh My
-
Fiona Apple - When the Pawn... Shane MacGowan - The Snake Blur - Think Tank Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures

Those are certainly better. Although I like simple names. In my opinion, the best band names ever: The Who The Band the The Perfect. Other names I would like to see: (if you're going for academic research references): The Milgram Experiment It's shorter, more pithy. Why not just: Boothroyd Word Lists or Topliss and the Word Lists ? With that second one you have the tease that maybe you have a semineked female frontwoman.

I'm still waiting for it to arrive from Amazon. I'll give you the scoop once I give it a listen.
-
Okay, so it's a flawed list (what isn't?) and maybe even a flawed concept for true music geeks, like most of us. (I don't think that I would ever qualify as a "hipster," and I doubt that many of us do.) But it's still kinda fun. Mine does have subtitles. Bought it off of eBay from a vendor in Sao Paolo. New. It all seems to play as needed. However, I have not yet tried watching the special features. Those may not have subtitles. It's available on eBay.

The movie just arrived today and I watched about a third of it. (I'm waiting to watch the whole thing with my wife.) It's pretty much everything that I wanted it to be, and more. There are looks into some of the Estuando a Pagode recording sessions, and pre-tour band rehearsals. Concert footage (of course) and... it's just awesome. Yay ME!!!
