Just bought this album for $0.21 (+ shipping): I love Frevo Rasgado, but this sounds like a totally different album. Any of you have it? What can I expect? AllMusic review sounds pretty good:

Your favorite 80's American "college rock" band

And many other kinds of love. Lammy... that was my exact experience with the Pups and that album. I will always and forever love that band. -
Stranded On A Desert Island With 5 Celebrities...

Jesus Because, you know, he would be really cool to hang out with. And if any of us got sick, he could just, like, lay his hands on us and stuff... Johnny Depp I have to admit to my man-crush on this guy. He seems to be super-cool and have some cool interests, as well as being something of a level-headed freak and whatnot. That's cool and fun. although, he might get in the way of me gettin' it on with: Janet Beveridge Bean Gotta have a hot drummer. And she's both hotter and a better drummer than Meg White. Plus, she can sing. Angelina Jolie Supernaturally beautiful. Plus, if you haven' -
Best box sets/live albums/retrospectives of the decade

I think that they are the ones that put out the Jim Ford retrospectives that I love so much. -

I didn't include UT because their debut came out at the VERY END of 1989, so I wouldn't count them as an "80's" band at all. Although, if you lived in the StL area, you probably had the chance to see them live many times between '87 and '90, so for you they might be. -
I was in college in the late 80's and early 90's. That was when I (musically) came of age and all that, so this seems like a perfectly logical poll for me to underwrite. Now, I know that my choice will probably be the last-place choice, so let me explain: Meat Puppets were my "gateway" band; they were the first band that I listened to that weren't played on ANY commercial radio station. At least they weren't until long after I had started listening to them. And when "Backwater" finally got them some airplay in '94 or whatever, I was pretty psyched for them. Sadly, that went nowhere... a one

A Thread for Musical Blasphemy you Truly Believe

Emitt Rhodes' self-titled is heads and shoulders above Paul McCartney's self-titled. In fact, I'd say that the Emitt record is everything the McCartney record should have been, but wasn't. (Is that blasphemy, or is it just as obvious as I think it is?) -

This is something that my wife posted on my Facebook page that makes me real proud: "Here is a Veteran's Day story for you that I told my friend Wendy....Two days ago I was at Corner Bakery with my 10 year old son having a meal, and there was a serviceman there in full uniform. My 10 year old went over to his table and said "I just want to thank you, sir, for serving our country and everything that you have done" and it brought tears to my eyes. The man was really touched. Then my 10 year old said to me, "Dad always does that, so I wanted to do it too." I thought that was a nice Veteran's da

Hey Noah, I went over to check it out, but there are no samples over there at CD Baby. You need to get some up there!

I am certainly going to check it out. And I second the cover comment. Congratulations on the release!

I'm playing it by ear today. So, first:

Kiss is a bit of a joke, methinks. More of a marketing strategy than a band; or at least in equal parts. Aerosmith, once upon a time, were a great rock band. Maybe not as good as Thin Lizzy, but certainly in the same league. Kiss... not so much.

I read this at another site. It's fucking horrible. RIP. -
I hate to be one to contribute to the "they were better when they were stoned" mentality. But yeah, in this case, they really were.

They haven't been so good since they got clean, anyway. What is that? 20 years? 25 years? Still, good for them for cashing in; they deserved it. And now, they'll live to enjoy it.

Seriously. My label is no longer investing in pressing of CDs; he claims that it's throwing money into the fire. A waste. I mean, I'll be available on iTunes and eMusic, but personally, as a musician, if I don't have that physical document in my hand, I feel like my time in the studio has been something of a waste. And I cannot afford to press vinyl LPs. That's for sure. So... my new album will be a (very) short run -- of 500 -- that I'll be paying for, myself. The label will be helping me with distribution, logistics, and promotion. Plus, I'll have the clout of being associated with an es

Oh, I can't see any YouTube at work. But, I'm sure it's hokey. Still, I'd rather listen to The Barber than to Dave Matthews any day of the week.
