  1. Is that "Big Pink"? From another angle?
  2. Damn, then it was the keys player, because I know that Warren Curcuillo and Terry Bozzio both played with Frank.
  3. Name 5 bands that Adrian Belew played with.
  4. Also known as the lead singer of The Bonzo Dog Band – and the guy in my avatar.
  5. Butterflies - Butterflies Arcade Fire - Funeral Iron Maiden - Killers The Webb Brothers - Maroon
  6. "The Narrator" on Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells is...?
  7. Anyone have this? Just heard the short samples at AllMusic and it sounds pretty cool. (No review up yet, though.)
  8. Hop On Pop - Chicken On a Bicycle (new roughs) and now...
  9. Only once: in 1994 at the Lounge Ax in Chicago.
  10. Fabricating Tom Zé http://imdb.com/title/tt0886487/plotsummary Sounds pretty great. He's an interesting dude, from the few interviews that I've read. I do want to see this. Very much. OFFICIAL MOVIE SITE (with clips and everything). I have been searching for an English-language/Region 1 DVD version of this for about a year now, with no luck. Anyone know if there is one available, or if I can get my hands on a copy of this somewhere? I am a huge fan and this looks like a very cool movie.
  11. I agree. It was from someone that I hadn't been in-touch with for several years. This is the note that I got: So yeah, weird. Now I just want to know what kind of search she did for music. And which CC site it was at. I know that it's been used in podcasts and whatnot, but this is something new.
  12. Harry Nilsson - Pendemonium Shadow Show/Aerial Ballet/Pandemonium Aerial Ballet Pela - Anytown Graffiti Acetone - York Blvd. Self - Gizmodgery
  13. An online aquaintance from Garageband.com let me know about this video. I have no idea what this program is or who the person is that produced the video. How did they hear us? Where did they hear us? The song is called "Cary's Here" and it's from my first album. Weird and cool and... weird. Nice to get exposure, though.
  14. Take it in to somebody who has some experience with these things.
  15. Absolutely makes my list, given you think they are a "band".
  16. I think that this is a pretty interesting read. As far as a personal list, this is pretty tough. (Of course, we're all gonna add our own lists, right?) In no real order, here is a running list of my choices, as I think of them: Gun What Light The Long Cut I Can't Stand It Jesus, Etc. Misunderstood I'm Always In Love Screen Door Watch Me Fall
  17. But Wilco doesn't change members (willfully) from song-to-song in a premeditated manner, the way that Steely Dan does. They'll call in 4 or 5 guitar players to try to play a solo on a certain song, just to get the right sound. Wilco uses the same full-band unit for an entire album. Granted, there are special "guests" here and there, but there are basically 4, 5, or 6 guys that function as a single unit on any given record. and usually for 2 or 3 records at a time. All bands gain and loose members. Steely Dan just doesn't HAVE members, except Becker and Fagen. I don't even think that they would
  18. I would have a hard time placing them in this group, due to two factors: 1. They only have one album. 2. They were a studio creation, with no experience playing live gigs (together). Songs were pieced together bit by bit; constructed in the studio. So, while that one studio album, as phenomenal as it was, certainly does deserve to be mentioned among the all-time (overlooked) great pop/rock albums, I don't know that I would even classify The Millennium as a band. So, by that same conceit, does Steely Dan qualify? After all, they only have 2 constant members... and the songs are/were pieced
  19. Mekons - Rock 'n' Roll The Magnolia Electric Co. - The Magnolia Electric Co. Mavis Staples - Never Turn Back My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves Kathy McCarty - Sorry Entertainer
  20. It also lumps them in with Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Supremes, The Temptations, The Everly Brothers, The Four Seasons, and others that would be a pretty damn large compliment. Also, you can lump the "Bands" in with Poison, The Shaggs, etc. So I'm insulting the "bands" by calling them such, huh? Just depends how you look at it... there are brilliant and horrendous examples of both. Take a breath, my friend, and look at YOUR big picture, from a different angle.
  21. Canada is part of North America. just to start an argument over semantics.
  22. I suppose it's the vocal-first mindset/approach that makes me think of them in a slightly different light. Whereas most rock/country bands place a greater emphasis on the instruments. (Yes, even the Beach Boys. And, I didn't include the Everly Brothers here either.... I suppose it's the same mindset. While there are instruments, it's all about the voice, really.)
