  1. Just so you know... The Hop On Pop album is now at 8 songs. And, while it is nearing completion, it is still available for free (name your price) download. However, those folks who have shown their support by paying something for the incomplete, in-process album DL, WILL receive the full, completed (and mastered) album once it is available. It's only fair. Thanks so much for that support! http://hoponpop.bandcamp.com/album/one-by-one
  2. New Tom Zé? Oh, and I don't know if it'll be an entire album, but SLOW (as referenced in another thread) have recorded their first new music in more than 30 years! Hopefully that will come out.
  3. Tim Armstrong - A Poet's Life
  4. This is the best damn news I've heard all day! Even better that they're actually going to have new music out after 35 years! https://www.straight.com/music/989691/inevitable-fall-and-unlikely-rise-slow While I'm waiting to hear the new music, you can hear their old music, just (finally) re-released: https://slow.bandcamp.com/releases
  5. Try the Chicano Batman record. It has an older-type sound (WAR, Shuggie Otis, etc.). I think you might like it.
  6. Understated and honest. No pretense. No unnecessary notes. Knows his strengths and weaknesses as a vocalist and uses both to his advantage.
  7. Hence, the underrated tag. Such a great band.
  8. Just grabbed Chicano Batman's newest record and, I gotta say, this one could definitely make the list. In fact, it certainly will. Great, great stuff. RIYL: WAR, Shuggie Otis.
  9. Diron Animal - Alone Goat - World Music
  10. Sure thing. And, by the way, the synths and electronic flourishes are seamless. They fit the mood perfectly and added to it all, without really calling attention to themselves. Nicely done.
  11. As far as my thoughts on the mix... The main thing is the vocal mix. The vocals are great, but I wouldn't have mixed them quite as high. They are explosive vocal parts, which makes them stand out, as they are and, as a matter of the mix, they sound a little too aggressive to my ears. A bit of an assault. Like I said, they are terrific, performance-wise and they should be as emphatic as they are. They sound like a call to arms and that is great. And they should be up front, of course. I just would have set them a little more comfortably in the overall mix. As I am not an engineer, I am not sure
