American Idiot does have a lot more substance, both lyrically and musically than most of their past records. The only thing that sounds the same is Billy Joe's voice; I can understand how a lot of people have a hard time getting past that.

I loved Gish. And I think that, musically, a lot of the SP stuff is really good and interesting. I just don't like his voice. His singing sounds like a baby with colic at 3 a.m. (But the voice works when there's layers of guitars around it.)

Yeux Sans Visage (Eyes Without A Face) Another creepy, mad scientist movie that is surprisingly graphic for its time.

I love 'em both. The Di'Anno years were too short, although I suppose my favorite songs are with Di'Anno ("Running Free" and "Number Of the Beast"). He was more punk. But Bruce Dickinson was pretty damn good too, for the operatic metal thing.
