  1. I think that there are at least 2 great albums—Nothing's Shocking and Ritual de Lo Habitual. And a 3rd that is very, very good (the live, self-titled one that came out before Nothing's Shocking).
  2. I saw Steve Gunn opening for Dinosaur Jr. He was really good. Outstanding guitar player with an overall sound like The Sea and Cake meets My Morning Jacket, with a bit of post-reunion Television and Grateful Dead thrown in for good measure. I would recommend him too, if I were more familiar with his recorded work. But, just based on his live show and the couple of recorded tunes that I've heard, still, I agree with that. He's good.
  3. Going with my 17-year-old son to see Dinosaur Jr. at Metro!
  4. Sly & The Family Stone • If You Want Me To Stay • Que Sera, Sera • Family Affair • Just Like a Baby • Thank You (Falettin Me Be Mice Elf)
  5. ROCKPILE - HEATWAVE FESTIVAL 8/23/1980 A halfway-decent bootleg recording of an absolutely scorching performance from one of the best live bands that there ever was.
  6. "GIRLS ARE FOREVER" A compilation of girl band obscurities from the 50s and 60s that was put together for me by a friend of mine who is a girl group obsessive. With the exception of one or two (The Shangri-Las and The Ronettes), there is not a single name on here that I recognize, and not one song. It's all pretty solid stuff, though. Really digging it. Hooray for the obsessives! Especially when they like to share!
  7. Let's see... so far today: Ultimate Painting - Dusk Burnside Project - Syntax & Semantics Brian Eno - Another Green World Cate Le Bon - Crab Day Echo & The Bunnymen - Echo & the Bunnymen
  8. The Tao Te Ching The Autobiography of Malcolm X
