Wilco Recommends (Spotify playlist)
PopTodd replied to a-me-with-a-you's topic in Someone Else's Song
I saw Steve Gunn opening for Dinosaur Jr. He was really good. Outstanding guitar player with an overall sound like The Sea and Cake meets My Morning Jacket, with a bit of post-reunion Television and Grateful Dead thrown in for good measure. I would recommend him too, if I were more familiar with his recorded work. But, just based on his live show and the couple of recorded tunes that I've heard, still, I agree with that. He's good. -
Yeah, but the music's great.

ROCKPILE - HEATWAVE FESTIVAL 8/23/1980 A halfway-decent bootleg recording of an absolutely scorching performance from one of the best live bands that there ever was.

"GIRLS ARE FOREVER" A compilation of girl band obscurities from the 50s and 60s that was put together for me by a friend of mine who is a girl group obsessive. With the exception of one or two (The Shangri-Las and The Ronettes), there is not a single name on here that I recognize, and not one song. It's all pretty solid stuff, though. Really digging it. Hooray for the obsessives! Especially when they like to share!

That's it! Thank you!

Who does his voice sound like? A little Malkmus, sure. But there is someone else that he sounds like even more... And it's killing me trying to figure out who.
