Okay, so the first couple are definitely in order. But, after that, rankings are a little more fluid. Tom Zé @ Park West (Chicago), 1998—Like no other performer I have ever seen. Surreal and beautiful, and intimate and crazy and lucid and everything all at once. Pure joy and pure communication, despite the fact that he spoke no English, and the majority of the crowd spoke no Portuguese.
