  2. Thanks! I'll throw it in the Spotify queue!
  3. Bought the new one a couple of days ago, and I saw the double EP for cheap yesterday, so I bought that one too. I liked it, but just didn't get the hype at first. And, maybe it's cognitive dissonance speaking, but I'm starting to get it now.
  4. I suppose, looming much larger in my memory from the fIREHOSE show that I attended the evening of Halloween, 1989 was the opening act -- Uncle Tupelo. While fIREHOSE was great, UT's set was a performance that changed my life.

  8. Back in the day, I would tell folks that, if I ever got a chance to meet my favorite artists face to face, all I wanted to do was to tell them "thank you" for making my life a better place. Now, with all the internetty stuff like Twitter and stuff, I actually can do something like that. Even if it's not face to face, I can send them a personal note. So, yesterday that's what I started doing. I'm only sending notes to verified accounts, so that the notes have the best chance of actually reaching the person whom I want to thank. It'll take me a while, but eventually I'll be able to send not
  9. Local (Chicago) band that I used to love to go see in the 90s. Stylistically, they were kinda one of those "kitchen sink" bands -- a little bit of everything: surf, jazz, punk, indie, pop, ragtime, and whatever. T'was wonderful.
  10. I've only been able to find 7 total songs from this sister group. From the research I've done, it appears as if these are the only songs that they ever recorded together. I wish there were more because they're wonderful. Excellent 60s girl group pop.Although "Sweet and Tender Romance" is a bit of an anomaly in that it rocks so much harder than anything I've heard from any other similar band. (Plus it features Little Jimmy Page on a lead guitar break that is uncredited, but so very clearly him, that it's ridiculous.)
  11. "Energy" is one of my wife's favorite songs, ever. It comes on and she just goes nuts like some girls go nuts to… whatever. She just goes nuts, closes her eyes, shakes her head around, and sings along. It's really cute! I love that song, too.
