Bought the new one a couple of days ago, and I saw the double EP for cheap yesterday, so I bought that one too. I liked it, but just didn't get the hype at first. And, maybe it's cognitive dissonance speaking, but I'm starting to get it now.

I suppose, looming much larger in my memory from the fIREHOSE show that I attended the evening of Halloween, 1989 was the opening act -- Uncle Tupelo. While fIREHOSE was great, UT's set was a performance that changed my life.

Back in the day, I would tell folks that, if I ever got a chance to meet my favorite artists face to face, all I wanted to do was to tell them "thank you" for making my life a better place. Now, with all the internetty stuff like Twitter and stuff, I actually can do something like that. Even if it's not face to face, I can send them a personal note. So, yesterday that's what I started doing. I'm only sending notes to verified accounts, so that the notes have the best chance of actually reaching the person whom I want to thank. Local (Chicago) band that I used to love to go see in the 90s. Stylistically, they were kinda one of those "kitchen sink" bands -- a little bit of everything: surf, jazz, punk, indie, pop, ragtime, and whatever. T'was wonderful.
