  3. My first time picking up one of these 33-1/3 books and I am loving it. It's extra nice that the author, J., is an old high school friend of mine. Always was an excellent writer and it's nice to see him published. And he was always an R.E.M. fanatic (I remember him raving about their show at the UIC Pavilion during the Pageantry tour), so it's extra-extra cool that he was able to hook up with these guys to do the research.

  10. All I have is REVENGE! It's a live double album—half acoustic, half full-band—that is really pretty great. Don't know if it's the best place to start, because it's all I know. But… it is a really good album.
  11. Those would be my first choices. However, Before and After Science and Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) should also be on that list; they are equally essential. I am not big into the whole ambient music thing, but I'm sure that, if you have any interest, there are several people on here who can point you in the right direction when it comes to that part of his oeuvre.
