  1. I'm not sure I understood a bit of it, but it was still quite an experience. As much as I want to be put off by it, I find myself loving it.
  2. I'm listening to the tribute on XRT now. Great content. Currently they're playing a recording from Lin's childhood band (the Roundabouts). As a huge fan of all things Chicago, I was sad to learn about his passing. Stupid cancer.
  3. An emotionally powerful movie. It's films like this that make me go to the theater. Brendan Fraser is incredible. Not sure what the competition will be but he's a serious contender for Best Actor. Great performances in the supporting roles, too.
  4. I've read some pretty low remarks about both her and her father in the wake of her death. I prefer to focus on their humanity. My favorite story of those I've happened upon took place during Lisa Marie's childhood. After Lisa Marie told her father that she'd never seen snow, Elvis had his private plane readied and flew his little girl to Idaho so she could see snow. There they played outside for about 30 minutes before flying back to Memphis. Some may whine that it's just an example of a privileged childhood, but I see it as an example of a daddy's love for his daughter. I hope that Lisa Marie
  5. I'm hopeful there will be new music from the Decemberists.
  6. I didn't watch a lot of new movies in 2022, but I very much enjoyed this one on New Year's Eve.
  7. Merry Christmas, folks! I spent parts of Christmas Eve night and today being lovingly mauled by five dogs (three of which are pictured) and in the company of family and a rotund pig named "Gumbo."
  8. A couple of weekends ago I binge-watched all of the Daniel Craig James Bond movies. Each of them is entertaining. He did the role justice I think.
  9. In no particular order: Spoon - Lucifer on the Sofa Wilco - Cruel Country The Beths - Expert in a Dying Field Afghan Whigs - How Do You Burn? Son House - Forever on My Mind Del McCoury Band - Almost Proud Superchunk - Wild Loneliness Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You ETA: Soccer Mommy - Sometimes, Forever
  10. They're always incredible live. I saw them twice during their last American tour, and they were phenomenal. How Robert Smith's voice can possibly be as strong as it was 30 years ago is mind-boggling.
  11. Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, Connie Smith, Jontavious Willis, and Choctaw Dancers at the grand reopening of the Ellis Theater, which has undergone substantial renovation as part of Marty's planned Congress of Country Music in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
  12. So sorry you couldn't make it. Not trying to rub it in, but October's a great time to visit NOLA. I wasn't dying in the heat while waiting for the doors to open. Next time!
  13. I thought they were set to release multiple albums this year. Haven't heard any recent rumblings about that though.
  14. It was the best run of shows I've ever experienced. The downside is that by Friday night I was so tired I actually have no recollection of Spoon covering John Lennon's "Isolation" during the encore. And I was totally sober. It was an epic week of live music the memories of which I'll always treasure.
  15. Spoon! Again! Best four-night run of shows I may ever enjoy - two nights of Wilco followed by two nights of Spoon.
  16. Bummer. I'm sorry they weren't on top of their game. For me the overly aggressive audience put a damper on their NOLA show.
  17. None taken! Since it had been quite a while since they last played in NOLA (and since I was there for the shows this week), I figured I'd do my part and actually contribute something more than posts in the "Live Tonight" or "Now Playing." threads.
  18. Not sure how much I can get out at this point in the night, but here goes. Another great performance tonight. Because they performed a mostly different set of songs, tonight's set was more predictable than night one. There were more fan favorites in tonight's set. Old fans like me always appreciate hearing "Box Full of Letters," "Monday," and "Outtasite (Outta Mind)." And it's always cool to hear John sing "It's Just That Simple." A few nice surprises included songs from Star Wars, Schmilco, and Ode to Joy. And I was happy to again hear more songs from Cruel Country. To me they seem to have mo
