  1. This seems like as good as a place as any to drop this. NEW SPOON!
  2. I thought this was my 40th World Series, but I forgot about the strike season of '94 in which there was no World Series. I wanted to go, but tickets to the games in Atlanta are over $1,000 for standing room only! Oh, well. Maybe some day. Go Braves!
  3. I threw a little money your way this week. It's not much, but I hope it will help.
  4. I saw recently that they were closing up shop and hate it.
  5. He's a successful realtor in the Raleigh, North Carolina area now. Here's a great podcast interview with him from not long ago. https://bsidepodcast.com/podcast/episode-7-george-huntley/
  6. I was nervous before hearing the new album due to the passage of time as well as the departures of singer/songwriter/guitarist George Huntley and drummer Peele Wimberley. After one listen I thought that many of the songs would sound very good live. After the second listen something clicked, and for several days I couldn't stop listening to the album. I miss George's contribution to the band, but all things considered it's a terrific record. I saw them live in Atlanta a couple of weekends ago, and so many amazing memories of their shows during my college years flooded my mind. Coin
  7. I'd love to be able to attend the screening at the Davis. Another (among a billion) reasons why I wish I lived in Chicago. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this film, and I plan on supporting the Kickstarter campaign when I next get paid.
  8. Hard to believe it's been 10 years since they called it a day. Ten years ago today.
  9. Well dang. Has this already started? I really need to pay better attention.
  10. I'm so out of it these days that I didn't even realize it's already playing. Thanks for your review. It's inspired me to go to the theater for it. Plus who knows how many more times we'll have a chance to see a new Eastwood movie?
  11. The Connells. First time I’ve seen them since April 18, 2002. So excited!
  12. I was nonplussed when I learned that some people don't find him funny. I always thought he was a comedic genius. On Mondays my high school and college friends and I always talked about his Weekend Update performances. For the last couple of days I've spent a few hours watching his standup routines and late night appearances on YouTube. If laughter's the best medicine then I should be recovering from this sinus infection I'm battling in no time. Norm left us way too soon.
  13. It appears that those of us in South Mississippi will be spared from the brunt of the storm. I sure hope so. Memories of last October's post-Zeta cleanup are still very fresh. Unfortunately it looks like family in Southwest Louisiana may not be so fortunate. When I was a kid I thought hurricanes were great because we didn't have to go to school. Then I had to help my parents with cleanup without electricity and air conditioning for several weeks in early September after a particularly big hurricane. Not fun at all!
  14. Roll On, last year's limited release final album by Water Liars. I still marvel at this album and am so sad they called it quits before this album saw the light of day. Water Liars - Roll On - Bandcamp
  15. My only complaint is that it's too short. Especially considering the event was three days in length. Seeing country blues giants like Bukka White (B.B. King's older cousin), Sleepy John Estes, Mississippi Fred McDowell, and Furry Lewis was pretty amazing. Those kids in the crowd were so fortunate to have that experience! I bought the DVD because Fat Possum had a great sale in July, but it'll be streaming free YouTube soon: I also watched the new PBS American Masters episode on Buddy Guy last night. Highly recommended!
