Last weekend I saw pics of my group's new place and the list of my housemates, and I'm already excited. It can't get here soon enough!

They're one of those bands that reach some people when seen and heard live. I associate them and their shows with making great memories with college friends.

That's a solid record as well. I like all of their albums except Darker Days. They hadn't really developed their sound at that point, but by Boylan Heights they'd found it. One album that a lot of people either don't know about or have forgotten is Old School Dropouts. They released it after being dropped by TVT, and it's been out of print for years. I thought it was pretty good. Apparently some of the songs on it were unfinished, and updated versions will be on the new album. If you're interested in exploring their catalog, I recommend starting with the album Fun & Games. If you like that one then I'd move on to Boylan Heights, One Simple Word, and Ring. It's always boggled my mind that these guys weren't huge. During my college senior year both my roommate and I had our cars broken into on the same night. The first thing i did when I discovered that one of the windows in my car had been broken out was to check on whether my Boylan Heights CD was still in the car. It was!

Looks like the board missed his two bluegrass releases. Today brought news of another new Sturgill album arriving later this year. Anyone who knows of the Connells knows how criminally underrated they were in the late 1980s and the 1990s. They're back! Well, kinda. The Connell brothers, Doug MacMillan, and keyboardist Steve Potak are still in the band (along with a couple of new members), but singer/songwriter/guitarist George Huntley and drummer Peele Wimberley. They're releasing a new album this fall, and the first single from it is OK. Perhaps more exciting is that they're touring! Their live shows were always so good. I certainly hope this site's not dead because I prefer it over the social media groups. I was completely taken by surprise when I saw the announcement the other night. My little group of Solid Sounders lost the great house we had in 2019, but I understand that we procured lodging in Williamstown. I'm just excited that it's one month closer than I expected.

Last night I watched game six of the NBA finals. I haven't been a big NBA fan in years, but I thoroughly enjoyed this year's finals. Giannis Antetokounmpo is a joy to watch, and the Bucks play well as a team. Game five was particularly epic. I always enjoy watching a small market team that hasn't won in a long time hoist the championship trophy.

I'm so sorry to read about these challenges with which you've been dealing. That's a lot. Sending you healing vibes and well-wishes. You certainly deserve a break or ten.

A couple of Sundays ago I drove to Memphis to see a few old college friends. I took the chance of getting on the road early enough that morning to attend the service at the church in Memphis at which Al Green is the pastor. Apparently it is usually not known whether he'll appear on any given Sunday. Fortunately for me he was there and sang and preached on the day I attended. Out of respect for the church and its members, I didn't take any photos during the service. I recommend re-watching the first one before seeing the sequel because I'd forgotten much of the first one. As such the sequel made less sense at times.

If the lead singer's voice sounds familiar it's because he's Bono's son.

I saw it today. I enjoyed it for the most part except for the ending. And I agree that it's not as good as the first one though for some reason I don't remember much about that one.
