I realize I'm almost three years late for this party...but. This DVD just showed up in my mailbox from Netflix! It seems my husband ordered it and didn't tell me. Best of all, I didn't even know this existed. Happy Day!! Now, just have to wait (im)patiently until tonight when I can sit down and watch it...

For sure. Sky Blue and Black is incredibly tear inducing as well. For me, I'd have to say Johnny Cash. I like my music with a little more complexity, a few more layers. Johnny Cash was always just a little too straight forward for me. But my husband took the time to put a few of the JC box sets he had on my itunes and when I got the chance to give the music a listen, I finally realized that there was a lot of depth there. Maybe not always lyrically but always in his voice. Now, I'm addicted.

Yes to Dolorean and the Old 97's. I've heard the Old 97's quite a bit on Pandora, and really like them, but the recommendation for Dolorean was a pretty good one and a welcome discovery.

I really, really WANT to love the entire Grace album by the late, great Jeff Buckley. But I can't. Hallelujah is on my top 5 of all time favorite songs but I just can't get into the rest of the album. This makes me feel musically inadequate -
can't wait to catch these guys at Cain's in Tulsa!! So glad I found them.

rogue wave eta...not alt country though

I had one a while back...and ironically, it also involved me playing with the band. Glenn was looking for a replacement and even though I posses zero percussion know how, they asked me to play drums. Glenn was showing me all these weird Dr. Seuss-type instruments that were huge, and kind of scary, and impossible to play. After a drawn out, unproductive rehearsal in the Loft where I found it impossible to concentrate because, well, Jeff was there and even though he was a really nice guy, he ruh-heal-ly intimidated me. I woke up just before we were to go onstage for our first performance...I lov

I was recently searching for the demos that include this song too...found it at Owl and Bear!! http://download.owlandbear.com/Wilco%20-%20YHF%20Demos%201/

Exactly this. Watching that never fails to induce chills and goosebumps. Never.

so just for clarification...is it not cool to like Wilco and a played out 90's Soul Asylum song? I'm still relatively new to all of this.
-
Driving along earlier tonight, my ipod shuffled to a live version of Soul Asylum's Runaway Train and I suddenly became desperate to hear Wilco cover this song (sorry, I love it...I'm a product of the 90's alt music scene). So, I guess that's not a whole album- maybe they could just play that one song nine or ten times in a row

I don't know if it was only for Memphis or not...anyone else know? ETA...nevermind, answered my

I didn't take any pictures in memphis because, well, the iphone takes crap pictures from row L, or row A for that matter. In KC though, I was right up front and since my husband had to miss the show, I pulled out my phone when they played California Stars so that I could call him and let him "listen"...I didn't hold the phone up in the air or anything, just in front of me but I'm sure Jeff could see and I'm sure he thought I was trying to snag a video recording. Next time, I think I'll wear a shirt that says "I'm NOT video taping! I'm letting my husband participate in this amazing moment from

yet another amazing Wilco show! The crowd was kind of weird, at least around us, and Jeff's little temper tantrum was kind of intense. I totally get his point and yes, the apparent drunk with her pocket flask should have stopped when he asked but maybe he could have handled it a little differently...? I don't know. Overall though, awesome experience. Boxful of Letters was a nice surprise, as was Country Disappeared and Jeff's guitar playing these last few shows has just been jaw dropping!!

I thought it was awesome when Jeff countered GW's redneck remarks! Seriously, I think there were way more people there to see Dave Matthews than Gretchen Wilson and I wouldn't really classify DMB fans as rednecks. I screamed pretty loudly at Jeff's comment to be sure...
