I wonder why Jay never appears on talk shows to promote the new stuff. Is it a conscious decision or can they not get the bookings? I find the latter hard to believe with some of the no-name bands Dave and Conan put on. I always though Jay and Son Volt should be more well known then they are.

Why are we comparing these two bands again? All I know is the last REM album was horrible and Wilco have never released anything half as clunky.
-
okay, here is what it looks like once the platter is removed. I see no belt. And you'll notice there is no belt going 'round the pulley
sorry to bug ya'll with this, but none of my friends around here have any clue about record player.
I see no belt in that pic. No belt=no turny.....

Just saw them last weekend in Chicago. They were amazing as always, but you better like the new record. They played 8 songs from it.

Here's Bruce joining Gaslight!
-
do you have a link to this?
Apparently they joined Bruce onstage at Glastonbury. And Bruce opened with Joe Strummer's "Coma Girl"!!

and remixed stereo so that it doesn't sound shit, maybe?
Isn't that is what's coming out in September? Why do you think they will sound like shit? That Love CD sounded amazing!

Bruce Springsteen talks about these guys in a recent interview on the BBC1 site. He likes em a lot!

i was more excited to finally get a remastered version of the the first neil young album on itunes.
When did this come out? I had no idea the remasters were being released yet.
-
If only Neil would have added the few songs to make up the full albums, he would have my $100.00 today. Unfortunatly, now I will patiently wait for the studio remasters to come out. There just isn't enough extra stuff on there to make me buy this, and then the remastered full discs when those come out.
-
Is anyone else bothered by how similar some of these songs sound to other Son Volt songs. And yes, I know there are only so many chords but some of these are too close. Like "Down to the Wire" sounds exactly like "Circadian Rhythm" from the last disc.

Well that's a pretty open-ended statement - whose video would it have to be for there to be no reaction?
I guess my point was that the video is no more violent then anything else in theaters or on TV but because it's Bob Dylan ,it is somehow shocking.
-
that would make sense, wouldn't it? however, the entire albums from this early period are not on the archives. only select songs.
Are you serious?! Well, I no longer need to debate which format to buy anymore. I'm out.....
-
I was totally ready to hit send on this, and then noticed that the CD's are NOT included.
Um.....DOH!
-
I don't imagine Dylan had much, if anything, to do with the director's vision in this video.
I doubt Dylan's even seen it, not less had anything to do with the content. I can't believe the amount of comments this has created. If this video wasn't a Dylan track, would anyone have even blinked?
-
if you buy this, you're still gonna have to buy the sorely need remasters of the early albums.
Why, I thought all the tracks on each album on included on this?
-
If you read the WilcoWeb email from yesterday, they sure don't seem to care. Since bands make very little from album sales, I doubt they even think about it.
-
To me, the key to enjoying this album is the key to enjoying any Dylan album after "Blonde on Blonde"; don't expect another Blonde on Blonde and you might enjoy it. I love it and even if this wasn't Dylan singing this stuff I would still love it. It's warm, poignant, and funny all at the same time.

I realize no one listens to them anymore, but Marty Wilson Piper of The Church deserves to be in here. And has no one mentioned Neil Young or Carlos Santana yet?
My favs:
Thurston and Lee (Sonic Youth)
Pete Townshend
Lindsey Buckingham
Mississippi John Hurt
Django
Jerry Garcia
Neil Young
Carlos Santana

The Eternal > Rather Ripped
The Youth are back big time! I'm currently reading Goodbye 20'th Century which is great if you want the whole story.

At least it isn't based on a comic book! That Spiderman musical makes me cringe everytime I read it.

Milwaukee here I come!! Turner Hall too. I love that place (as long as Sonic drowns out the bar people).

Isn't this just audio from the tracks on the DVD? So if you guys already have the DVD, you already have the tracks. Settle down!

There's clicking in the recording because there was clicking in the webcast. It's just from latency issues and whatnot... there's a lot of information trying to stream from really far away and whatnot. Regardless, it hasn't been uploaded anywhere else to my knowledge, so the only way to experience it would be from memory... so it's better than nothing, right? I'm lazy and didn't split up the tracks or anything. I left in all the banter and whatnot - it's completely unedited. You can chop it up yourselves in Audacity if you want.
It's mp3, because I wasn't really sure what else to use...
It's uploading right now. I'll come back and edit this post with a link in about 40 minutes.
EDIT: Here you go... Wilco Webcast from Pabst 4/15/09
BIG thanks from here!!

Dude, I bet there are plenty of Wilco fans who couldn't do that. Not all music fans are obsessed message board junkies....
