  1. That video is the Little Feat song. This video is the Moby Grape track Wilco covered on the A.M. demos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9QwZBQz7XY
  2. Was just about to post this in the gear thread...now I gotta get the Tweedy SG AND this. How 'bout a John Sitrrat signature Hofner bass???
  3. I dig 'em. One of my favorite recordings they did was with John Scofield, "A Go Go." That entire album is solid, front-to-back. Great driving music, great summertime porch jams. I didn't like their next two collaborations as much, although 2006's "Out Louder" has a few good tunes, including The Beatles' "Julia." these guys were meant to play together. Also really enjoyed Medeski/Martin's "Mago" record...there's some really strange music in there and some really funky music in there. Medeski's one-off with the North Mississippi Allstars and Robert Randolph, The Word, was phenomenal. Great ins
  4. I think Jay's vocals on Susie Q are extremely annoying. But I do like their take on Truck Drivin' Man.
  5. Those lyrics are totally crushing. You can tell Jay and Jeff were singing to each other.
  6. Streaming on Spinner this week: http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/spinner#/16
  7. No Depression = more rock-oriented material, breakneck tempos, big, loud guitars. Not much twang. Still Feel Gone = the punk record, with some twang, more dense instrumentation and arrangements. Phenomenal drums, stronger songwriting. March 16-20, 1992 = the quiet record, acoustic instrumentation, covers and original material. Laid-back, haunting, hushed. Stripped-down. Anodyne = best blend of rock and twang, much more mature songwriting. Recorded live-in-studio in Austin. Warm, sunny, yet melancholic, heartbreaking.
  8. Punching in the song titles on YouTube should also generate just about anything you're looking for if you aren't up to trying out any of the streaming services.
  9. A live staple from the A.M. days! You really oughta check out some of the live recordings from that era and Being There. You'll hear all sorts of cover songs they used to play.
  10. Um, yeah....same exact thread appeared in January.
  11. He covered The Beatles well too. I'll Be Back, Something, I Me Mine...
  12. I don't have any stories, but I do enjoy quite a bit of his music. I'm fond of the track "Say Yes."
  13. Fox Theater, Boulder, Colo., 1995. Great show -- I have it on two CDs. Love this show.
  14. Good song. Not sure how exciting that'd be in the context of a Wilco show.
  15. I normally enjoy the Counterbalance pieces, but I thought this was one of their weaker efforts. They usually go into greater detail about many of the records they discuss, but here it just seemed...lazy?
  16. There's the album version, Tweedy solo, today's Wilco doing the Being There version, and today's Wilco embellishing Tweedy's solo version.
  17. I have never left a Wilco show disappointed, except for once -- on the last tour, closing with "Cruel to be Kind." I loved hearing it, but not as the closer to the final encore. End it with Wilco tune, a badass rocker and leave the crowd electrified.
  18. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHh
  19. I'm in the same boat. I was immersed in jazz for a few years. I probably haven't spun a whole jazz record in three years.
