  1. I can't believe I waited this long in life to get Elvis Costello-Blood and Chocolate. Sorry, Elvis, and thanks those who pushed it up the Top 100. P.S. Wow! they have this cover image of Polaroids on a wall at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (at least they did two years ago). Amazing.
  2. I agree. While SBS touches the heart and sensibilities a bit, ST attacks you with a range of emotions.
  3. Isn't that why we've been saving all that juicy oil up in Alaska, and off the Florida coast? Seriously, I can't quote chapter and verse, but I've read at least 3 studies that have said we've already turned the corner on oil, as far back as 2005. I think you raise valid points. The problem is -- as the most recent attempts to get into Alaska and Florida's knickers -- is that the more dire things seem, the more people will be willing to do whatever it takes, and a change in political approach becomes harder and harder. Despite the knocks Carter has taken, our last best chance to do somethi
  4. "I invented a sister populated with knives"? You singing this to chuckie?
  5. (psst., I think they're referring to an album)
  6. Regardless of where you stand in the election, this topic and post is pointless, and likely only aimed at starting trouble.
  7. Can you ask him if he can make that 7 a.m.? Dawn doesn't work for me. From McCain's face at the end of that ad, he definitely approves the ad.
  8. I love that movie. "Very exciting ... as a luggage problem."
  9. I recognized the museum, I was just wondering about a few of the buildings in the foreground. He's got a pretty straightforward writing style in how he weaves together the content he's citing into his narrative.
  10. I was poring over the map in the front of the book in the checkout, and trying to figure out how many of those buildings are still standing.
  11. "Don't ... stop ... thinking about tomorrow ..." "Born ... in the U.S.A. ..."
  12. I agree, but I'd still have a beer with the guy, if he drinks beer. I'm guessing he's not the 40-ouncer type.
  13. I bought Adult Head during the recent tour and the expanded poems add some perspective to the AGIB music.
  14. Numerous scenes in Brazil, but the dolly scene going through all the office floor pandemonium up to Ian Holm calling for Lowry.
  15. I didn't leave, but when I got dragged by co-workers to an REO Speedwagon concert at Alpine Valley, I curled up on the lawn and slept through it.
  16. It's A Wonderful Life, but not the big ending scene. George comes down the steps from his mother's boarding house, comes to the end of the sidewalk and does this show turn where his eyes show his despair.
  17. TGIJ -- Thank god it's Jeff. Of all of your birthdays, may this be one of them!
  18. No, I'm afraid of bubbles.
  19. As far as what the next album might be, don't overlook the approach the band has taken with all of its albums, but, at least thematically, the last three. There has been a theme, concept, approach to each album through which the writing, instrumentation, recording, mixing and sequencing have been ruled by. Asking for more noise, more Glenn, less/no Nels, more cowbell -- those are all circumstances that fit/don't fit the overall thematic approach the band takes. I've been rereading The Wilco Book and Adult Head, and it's been interesting to read how that all fits together with AGIB. Wit
  20. Me neither. There are some great techniques used to color these songs by Kotche -- plus he gets the only drum solo of any Wilco album on SBS.
