  1. TM will do that to you. You can't sit and refresh for more than 30 seconds before the on-sale.
  2. I'm interested. Where did people pull tickets in thepavillion for the Jam pre-sale? I pulled Sec. 101, but threw them back.
  3. Do you plan on sitting in line or hanging out somewhere else beforehand? I'm thinking of taking a 1/2 day from work and heading over there and sitting in line (like a loser).
  4. Awesome! PM me your plans for next Thursday. We definitely need to hook up.
  5. The look on the face of Ron Magers (the anchor for Channel 7 news) when he walked past those guys was priceless.
  6. But that had a lot to do with the orchestra drowning out other members of the band. It was really hard to hear any guitar, organ, or bass from where we were at (back of the pavillion).
  7. Because everyone always gets their hopes up for radio-station pre-sales, yet are always disappointed when they realize that they would have been able to pull better tickets through the general public on-sale had they just waited. Pre-sales do not necessarily mean better tickets.
  8. Plus, slope = the chance of people rolling down and getting hurt (and suing the city).
  9. I remember that. In 2001 for the free XRT 4th of July show, you could walk up right before show time, lay your blanket down, and not worry about being within 10 feet from the next person. Not quite 90% . . . there's an XRT pre-sale (probably with mostly lawn tickets) on Friday.
  10. Jeff's probably afraid it would be a snoozer live. He's stated at one of the living-room shows that he's adverse to playing songs that require him to sing in a lower key (e.g., Pot Kettle Black, Kamera (with lower octive)) because he feels like the crowd's not into them as much.
  11. I can't emphasize this enough. I pulled 2 in Sec. 105 at 10:11.
  12. I'd pay $75 just hear something like All Those Yesterdays, No Way, or Who You Are. True story.
  13. Crossroads fest expands; Wilco to add Chicago date By Greg Kot July 20, 2007 The summer concert season just got busier. Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival has added Robbie Robertson, Johnny Winter and emcee Bill Murray to the July 28 concert at Toyota Park in Bridgeview. The concert had been designated as sold out, but more tickets released by the festival's production team will become available at 4 p.m. Friday at the Toyota Park office and all Ticketmaster outlets, or by calling 312-559-1212. And next week, promoters are expected to announce a Sept. 12 concert by Wilco at Prit
  14. I can't believe that there are 3,000 pavillion seats. At the Decemberists' show, it looked like there were only half that amount. Anyway, I'm not surprised they're selling lawn seats for $10 -- anywhere other than the very front is basically like sitting on flat ground listening to a recorded show in your backyard (meaning, you can't see anything).
  15. At Millennium Park, Decemberists and orchestra not a perfect match As thunder rolled and rain fell, the worlds of classical music and rock tried to find harmony Wednesday at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. It was only the third major rock concert at the pavilion in its three-year history, with the house band -- the Grant Park Orchestra -- backing up quirky Portland quintet the Decemberists. The Decemberists are progressive rockers in indie-rock drag. On Wednesday, the co-ed band showed up looking like Gatsby-era bon vivants, in off-white and sherbet-colored summer-social att
  16. OK, I just heard from someone that's there and evidently the lawn is already 1/2 full and there's a HUGE line (presumably to get pavillion seats). Good luck everyone.
  17. Anything that's free at Grant Park usually leads to a mob scene. Plus, I heard only the back half of the pavillion will be available for seating to the public (the front half is reserved for members of the Grant Park music series), so that means more people in the back of the lawn (which is flat -- you won't be able to see the band). If the crowds aren't large, I would suspect it's because of the threat of bad weather.
  18. Definitely go see The National. I'm sure Wilco will be back about 2-3 times during the next year and a half promoting this album and presumably playing the same setlist (ducks). Plus, there's a greater chance that the Wilco show will be available for download than The National show.
  19. This disc is soooooooooooo much better than Gimme Fiction. It reminds me a lot of Kill the Moonlight, with some Girls Can Tell mixed in. I'm really, really digging it. Well played Spoon, well played indeed.
  20. I'm really looking forward to picking this up and listening to it today. I can only take so much of the new Interpol and Smashing Pumpkins (but the Spoon disc is at least pretty enjoyable).
  21. Agreed. My wife and I even danced to it at our wedding.
  22. Weren't they rumored to put out a new album in fairly short order? With all the touring (I think they said midwest in the late fall), they'll be busy for quite awhile.
