  1. It closes at 8. I just picked up a cheesecake there last Friday as they were closing.
  2. Nice to see the return of the Bus Mall. Portends good things for the string of Chicago shows in 2 weeks.
  3. Very descriptive. Great review.
  4. There's a Flat Top on Belmont and Southport (it's a veggie as you want to make it).
  5. Although I guess there's a possibility of Wilco showing up, my tickets says Jeff Tweedy.
  6. Well, with the exception of Walken (and perhaps Either Way), it's really the only radio-friendly song on the album.
  7. Rats. I liked my interpretation . . .
  8. I really do think that this song's about those displaced after Hurricane Katrina . . .
  9. So this is the guy responsible for blasting my eardrums out at the beginning of "Wishful Thinking" on Kicking Television . . .
  10. More specifically, a bumblebee ("late afternoon, and I've been puking.").
  11. That's just cruel to some people . . .
  12. I guarantee because it's seating that capacity could be cut by as much as a 1/4. Nevertheless, because the show isn't really being promoted, tickets should still be available for a couple of days. From the Vic site: "The Vic can easily accomodate 1300 people with seating for 1000." The Ticketmaster charges were $20. Edit: the $20 charge was for fees and charges for 2 tickets.
  13. If it's seated, it's essentially first come, first served for the round tops that they set up on the floor. The last time I was at the Vic for a seated GA show was in 1994 (Sarah McGlaughlin -- wow, I'm old).
  14. [will be walking the 2 blocks to the Vic on April 6th]
  15. Worldwide, REM is still huge. The Euros love that band. And Mike Mills' comment about being a more "rocking" album has been repeated since Automatic For The People. He says that before recording every album. They haven't been able to do much since New Adventures in Hi-Fi -- one of their best albums.
  16. Warner's pretty backlogged, so patience is still needed.
  17. This thread has to set a record for most people climbing out of the woodwork to post . . .
  18. Hey Erin, on a side note . . . I think that Sue may have forgotten them and left them on your bar downstairs. You may want to check. I didn't want them to get misplaced.
  19. I like it as well. But it reminds me of an REM song off of Reveal.
  20. Hey Solace, long bus ride home yesterday or something?
  21. I wonder what the higher number is: the number of songs Jeff played or the number of Chris's there last night.
  22. As I was telling people last night, when Jeff was singing Who Were You Thinking Of, he was singing it to Sue -- who was sitting right in front me. So I was right in Jeff's sight line. If you know or heard the lyrics to the song, you can imagine how awkward it was.
  23. Indeed. I remember listening to Radiohead's Hail To The Thief when it first leaked. The unmastered versions were so flat I couln't even hear rhythm guitar in some songs.
  24. They'll probably put the drone right in the middle of the song between verses, making it an 18-minute "development."
