I hope I'm wrong, but I think too many people have too high of expectations for this show (just like the Auditorium shows in November).

Any word on a soundcheck?

November 3, 2007 Chicago Metro - BBS Presents: Kevin Drew Just got tickets through the pre-sale. Can't wait. Other dates on sale this weekend.

Edie? Do you have any comment?

No One True Vine.

I'm not sure invites are required -- they cap registrations at 100,000. But usually slots open up are varying times. I would just keep trying.

Predictions for Wilco's Tonight Show appearance?
Chris_H_2 replied to unposed_question's topic in Just A Fan
I saw it . . . and fell asleep . . . -
What's interesting about those registered songs from BMI is that Shakin Sugar is the most-recently registered song.

Didn't they sell out Meadow Brook when they were there last (and capacity there is 7,500+)?

"Guitarist Nels Cline - whose recent bout of chicken pox was the cause for two cancelled shows earlier this month - impressed the crowd immediately with a skilled solo on the opening number. Throughout the rest of the show, his lanky, awkward frame would sporadically break into an enthusiastic jig, rock in time with his guitar, or simply move with such obvious passion for the music that he proved to be the most magnetic performer on stage. Watching him and listening to him made me pity those who saw Wilco before Cline joined the band in 2004." Somewhat strong words one might say . . .

Wow, it looks like the Tribune Company is still shelling out money. Zambrano re-signs for 5 years, $18.03 million, with a player option for the 6th year. I wonder why they couldn't take on money at the trade deadline.

There are some interesting collaborations on there that I can't wait to hear.

How in the world did this turn from a debate about corporate censorship based on content into one about the relevancy of Pearl Jam (who seem to be doing quite well in that department)? Does it really matter which band this involved?

Not to dump on Indiana (pun intended), but it deserves just as much blame as BP. After all, it signed off on the deal (justifying it by saying it would create 80 (80!) more jobs), just like it signed off on BP being able to dump mercury into Lake Michigan as it has been doing for years now. With this, and its prior refusal to grant reciprocity to IPASS users using Indiana toll roads, Indiana hasn't made too many friends in Illinois. That is all.

I think that partly explains why people were so quiet between the first set and the first encore. They had no idea what just hit them.

Great, great show with an unexpected, and weird, setlist. I think Kyle will agree, but I don't think we'll ever see them do a show like that (meaning, no staples (with the exception of WWS)) for awhile. Hearing All or None (opening song), Undone, Black Diamond, and Education made it all worthwhile. We also heard great versions of In Hiding, Sad, Comatose, Rats, Why Go, and Sonic Reducer. Set: All Or None, Education, Sad, In Hiding, Parachutes, I'm Open, Wishlist, Down, Undone, Off He Goes, Hard To Imagine, Gods' Dice, World Wide Suicide, Rats, Gone, Why Go Encore 1: No More (Ed solo),

Second favorite . . . just behind Pearl Jam (which is the band that really opened up my eyes to music (right place at the right time)).

When I saw Wolf Parade open for Arcade Fire about 2 years ago, I think that they may have impressed me just as much as Arcade Fire did. When I saw them again at the Metro last year, Sunset Rubdown opened . . . and were not very good. I was really surprised. Of course, Wolf Parade was fantastic.

What's the curfew for this show? Anybody know?
-
Yeah, don't bring this up around Wilco fans . . . they're very sensitive to this. I tried this in one of the Wilco threads about a month ago as to whether Wilco could play a different setlist in Colorado when they play there. The locals didn't like it.
-
There you go again . . . always pointing out my mistakes!
-
Not to sound like a downer, but I disagree. Tuesday night + curfew + peoples' high expectations = inevitable letdown. I remember people saying the same thing about the Auditorium shows last November (thinking that they would rival the 2003 Auditorium shows), only to say that they were good shows, but not the best. Let's hope that I'm wrong though.

How did you do yesterday for the PJ tickets? If you didn't get them, there's a slight chance of me being able to get one more. I'll let you know.
