  1. Powerful voice yes. Pretty no. To me, Becky has a much more femine and melodic voice, which I prefer. When Shara sings on the Wanting, I think she's going to take the back of my head and smash into the ground.
  2. This album by far has the the most uses of the word "thistles" as any album I own.
  3. OK, it's taking awhile, but I'm coming around to this. So far, Won't Want for Love, Hazards of Love 2, and The Wanting Comes In Waves are the standouts for me. And while I don't care for Shara Worden, Becky Stark may have one of the prettiest voices I've heard in a long time. And I'm assuming I'm hearing Jim James in the background on the Prelude, though I still can't tell for sure.
  4. I'm having an incredibly difficult time getting into this album. I've listened to it about 6 times, and I can't remember one singular song from the album. Not one. Then again, I loved Piq and Crane, so take it with a grain of salt.
  5. I must say that that Adam dude is really the only one that will take a chance and one that I can call an artist. His voice also reminds me of the lead singer from Ours. That is all.
  6. You should definitely get the 95 Red Rocks show then. In addition to the alternate Jeremy, they have Falling Down (first and only time played), Ship Song (partial), and couple of other nuggets.
  7. Love or hate the new reissue of Ten, but it's undeniable that the recent interviews (particularly with Jeff and Ed) have been phenominal. I was really interested by this: "There was that totally different "Jeremy" that was played live in 1995, but it's nowhere to be found here. 'I don't know that we ever got it to a place where it would have been a really proper alternate version. I think we only played it five or six times. '"
  8. What's the story with these guys? Who do they sound like? Is this like a French version of Franz Ferdinand, Doves, Snow Patrol, etc., or do they have their own unique sound? (I would click the links to find out, but my work computer doesn't permit me to listen to sound).
  9. Sheesh. So much for discussion on a message board. And I didn't think the original poster was even complaining about the lack of shows, but rather just asking a simple question.
  10. See, I knew I was good for something . . .
  11. Yeah, but the drummer's on record as saying that he doesn't care for Chicago that much, so I'm extra sensitive and paranoid.
  12. I really hope that The National give Chicago a proper show instead of a one-off festival show -- they haven't done so since September 2007.
  13. So no posts yet on the Feist collab. That's surprising. The song You and I is pretty awesome though.
  14. The song itself is good enough. It's just that the refrain and the title are pretty absurd.
  15. Any mention of ticket-on-sale dates?
  16. I remember about 2 years ago I read in a magazine (I think it was Maxim (hides in shame)) that the most underrated Wilco song is Magazine Called Sunset. I thought for a moment, and I actually agreed.
  17. There's the studio cut that's been floating around for awhile (along with Evil Goat) with the original lyrics. They're a little more polished than the Mookie Blaylock demos that we've heard.
  18. With the exception of Impossible Germany, I couldn't agree more with the Most Overrated Songs list. There, I said it. That is all. [runs away and hides]
  19. Interesting. And I'm assuming that the version of Brother is the one with lyrics, correct (well, it must be if it's live)?
  20. I'm betting on earlier than that. Didn't the band stream SBS on its website over 2 months before it was released (I remember it streamed the night we were at one of the LRS)?
  21. 1. I have very high standards for the music that I love, and I was not about to let Jeff off the hook easily. 2. Watch the song show up as Diver Down on the actual album. 3. The lesson, as always, is that I suck.
  22. Don't mean to step on Edie's toes (and I don't have who requested what), but here is the setlist: 1. Magazine Called Sunset 2. Shouldn't Be Ashamed 3. Hummingbird (w/Erin on violin) 4. Pieholden Suite 5. Blasting Fonda 6. Radio King 7. Family Gardner 8. Be Not So Fearful 9. Someday Some Morning Sometime 10. Feed Of Man 11. Solitaire 12. Wilco The Song 13. Jesus, etc. (w/Erin on violin) 14. Fake Plastic Trees 15. More Like The Moon ______________________________ 16. Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway(again) 17. Wishful Thinking 18. Less Than You Think 19.
