  1. Visited the R+R Hall of Fame yesterday on my way home from vacation and noticed there were no Wilco CD's or DVD's being sold in the record store section in the gift shop.......I wasn't looking to buy anything but I was curious to see if they had the new DVD but they didn't......They had so many other bands and performers product there who can't hold a candle to Wilco......Kind of surprised me.......Does this have something to do with the record company's lack of promotion or the Hall not recognizing them as an important act?

  2. Just got back from my mid-west history/Wilco tour........After sightseeing for most of the day in Kentucky we made the drive up to Bloomington for the show from Louisville.....First of all, I've got to say that Indiana University is a pretty fine looking campus and the auditorium sound up in the balcony was great......The weather was also great which allowed us to sit outside the auditorium right up until Wilco came on......We were hanging by the Hoagy Carmichael statue near where the buses were parked and we were able to see Jeff, Nels and John as they walked past us from the bus to the side entrance around 8 PM.....Went inside just about the time the opening band was completing whatever it was they were doing on stage......My buddies had never seen Wilco or even heard their music before this trip and the opening act had them worried about what they were going to see next .......After hours of playing Wilco tunes in the long drive from Conn. they agreed they were pretty good but they were beginning to have their doubts.......Well, the show blew them away.......Wilco rocked the place and I did not get the impression they were mailing it in......Yeah, they only played two songs I had not heard them play live before, but it didn't matter, they were right on Thursday night......They played almost every song one would want a new Wilco fan to hear.......My friends and I were totally blown away by the power of the show.....Again, they rocked.......I saw them at Tanglewood last summer which up to that time I thought was one of my favorite all time shows but I have to give this one the edge for it's sheer power.......The dueling solos in Voodoo were a great fun way to help end the night.....A few people I spoke to after the show were equally impressed......This show only reinforced my opinion that Wilco is the best live band today.......I was sort of hoping to hear the Wilco Song but that was the only disappointment of the night......Hell, I saw Jeff play that song in Northampton a couple of weeks ago.....Thanks for the pictures

    By the way.....

  3. Sounds like a great trip. I love "accidentally" fitting in a concert while traveling or vacationing.

Yeah, squeezing in Wilco will give me a break from looking at rock walls, rail fences and earthen redoubts...... :hyper

  4. Two co-workers and myself are driving to the Louisville/Lexington, Kentucky area on Wed. from Connecticut for one of our many American history trips which we take a couple of times a year to see Civil War battlefields and and other historical sites......I happened to notice that tickets were still available for this show and picked up three in the balcony.......Going an extra 100 miles to see Wilco on a whim is not bad.......I'm pumped.....

  5. Since Feb. 08 I've seen Wilco or Jeff Tweedy five times in the New England/NYC area and could have gone to two more if I really wanted to.......I've got a feeling that they might not pass this way again until late in the year or not at all......Just my take on it.......

Nutshell: these are charity shows, auctioned off to raise money for a charity administered through Second City. The auction takes place at SC's fundraiser in December, with shows in the early-ish part of the new year.

Thanks, I didn't realize this was one of the charity shows that were auctioned off. Is this one bigger (more people) than the Living Room shows?

  7. They don't even hide it now.......This was once considered crazy conspiracy stuff......Now coming to reality like most of the other so-called conspiracy theories about global governance......Do you think this will be a democratically elected world government concerned with the right of the people or the interests of the super rich and powerful?

  8. Are you people f*****g crazy?.........They are one of the best live bands going.......Jeff himself says they make their living on the road......Do you honestly think they go in the recording studio to make a shitty album?......Every album they have made has redeeming qualities even the ones I don't listen to that much.......This thread should have been started yesterday on April 1st in the joke section........I happen to like SBS and AM so for me they can't go wrong with this album if any part of your theory holds up.....Enjoy the music while you can.......Christ, I remember everyone was worried about what the Beatles would do next after Sgt. Pepper. The inevitable band break up will come some day, why wish for it now? They are just hitting their stride as a band. You haven't even heard it yet.....Well, there is always the new Jonas Brothers album I guess.
