I just received this email from Front Gate

I guess that ends my little dream as well as this thread

So... Mavis Staples and Billy Bragg are playing together at the Portsmouth Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH on March 25th. The very next night Tweedy is playing a mere 45 minutes north in Portland, ME. What are the chances that Tweedy might take the stage for a couple of songs with Staples and Bragg? It would be pretty damn special IMO. ... I need to give credit to my wife for putting two and two together here.

That's an odd collection of songs. Some really old stuff, songs that are already in the two currently printed songbooks, some from the out of print Being There songbook and nothing from the new album.

I'm new to this kind of thing but I couldn't find the song anywhere so I thought I'd give it a shot. There are some hammer-ons and pull-offs I can't quite figure out but this is the gist of it. Ooops! Sorry. Hadn't realized that would be offensive.

Thanks for putting that together Dave. It sounds great! Edit: Removed offer... sorry

That's fantastic news! My kids, who were at the show, are anxious for a bootleg. As a result its had me obsessively checking bootsdaily.com and the Roadcase for a copy. Your work is much appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

Here is a pretty cool interview with him: He mentions the picture on the guitar there.

My kids are coming but they are 9 and 12. Their first show was Tanglewoods a couple of years ago so my little on was 7. The crowds at Wilco shows are definitely kid friendly and of the three shows we've gone to with them there are always other kids there. Oh and make sure to get some hearing protection for the little ones. I think the tickets say Wilco is playing at 7:00pm

Oooo. They have a page for Concord. My fingers are crossed it'll go live -- I need a recording! http://www.wilcoworld.net/roadcase/concord.php

Try Pittsfield. I reserved a room at the Crown Plaza ($200/night for 4 people). The Ramada Inn was $169

That was a nice moment in the show and a great request! Tweedy seemed a little uncomfortable handing out the envelopes but you seemed to loosen him up a bit.

I hope someone grabbed the stream. If someone has it, I would love a copy. I'll be glad to split it and tag it as well.
-
Nope! All I can say is HOLY CRAP Jeff not only remembered my kids who met him at Tanglewoods but remembered our home videos as well! The fact that he talked to them last night and complemented them sent both of them into a kind of happy shock that won't wear off for a long time. Here are some videos: These are from a music recital held by their music teacher. And if you were wondering they are HUGE Wilco fans and they did make it to school this morning Edit: Also if anyone has a recording from the stream I would love a copy!

You can use Audacity to record and SoundFlower to redirect the output to Audacity. Its a bit tricky but the software is free and you can probably find a tutorial on Google. Good luck!

Yeah! Thanks I'll have to give it a whirl and see if my son is still interested.
-
Thanks Gobias! The help is greatly appreciated and I'll be patient.

Hmmm, still sitting as the top post after a number of weeks. Anyone? A little help? I guess I'll just finish it out. I was hoping someone more competent than myself would chime in and let me know if I'm on the right track. C'est la vie.

I couldn't find this tabbed out anywhere and my son really wants to play it. With that in mind I'm trying to work through it but I'm a real hack at the guitar. I've got a little more than half and thought I'd ask for some help/direction before I finish. Do it, especially if she likes the band. The crowd at their shows are surprisingly kid friendly. Just bring ear-plugs and be prepared to answer, "What is that funny smell?"

I've met the band twice. First time was after the Tanglewoods show and then again last summer after the Lowell show. It would be an understatement to say they were nice. Both times I was with my kids (now 8 and 11) and on both occasions all of the band members were very attentive to my children. Pat asked them what their favorite bands were (Wilco duh!) then recommended some other stuff. Nels and Mikael seemed genuinely impressed that my oldest plays the mandolin. And all of them were happy to have their picture taken with my kids and sign whatever. I didn't detect any distractedness or superi

My kids (8 and 11) are HUGE Wilco fans -- it's all they will listen to. I've taken them to two shows (Tanglewoods and Lowell) and they've loved every minute of it. The shows and crowds are kid friendly for the most part. Just make sure to bring earplugs for the little one.

One choice video to look for is "Jeff Tweedy plays guitar with the kids" -- the guy taking the video was right next to the kids who "accompanied" Jeff in Spiders. Very cool.

Couldn't PM you, but if you shoot me your address I have a ticket to send. It's a bit rough because it got wet but if you want it, I'll gladly send it.
