  1. Great movie. It's definitely a Wes Anderson movie, so there's a lot that will go over kid's heads. But it was very well done, and had some very strong scenes. The shot of Fox standing in front of the waterfall was just gorgeous, and Felicity's "I'm sorry I married you" line was pretty emotional. Highly recommended.
  2. I'm pretty lucky. My home has a bunch of good record stores nearby, as well as thrift stores and other places. Not to further hijack this thread, but the other day I stopped in the Salvation Army, and started flipping through the LPs. Someone must have just given them a box of records, because I ended up with 14 great jazz records from Miles, Brubeck, Stan Kenton from the 50's. All in great condition, no scratches, and minimal cover wear. 75 cents each. I paid $10.50 total. Hell, one of the ones I bought was Kind of Blue. That one was on the end of the rack. I have no idea how no o
  3. Geeze... I don't get that either. But it'll pop up somewhere eventually. This QOTSA album is on Amazon for $50+ I believe. It's the kind of thing you won't likely find in a record store, since they'll know what things are worth. But thrift stores, and anywhere else that sell used CDs are great places for that shit. I bought a copy of Prince's Black Album, also hard to find, at the same used book store for $3. That feeling is so much better than finding a rapidshare link for a rare album.
  4. Speaking of out of print CDs, I found a copy of Queens of the Stone Age's debut, long out of print, at a used book store for $5. The feeling of finding stuff like that is why I still buy/hunt for physical music formats.
  5. You can tell the difference in sound if your listening isn't limited solely to iPods and MP3's. I don't have a great stereo by any means, but I can easily tell the difference when I listen to a CD through the stereo, as opposed to my iPod through good headphones or computer speakers. Hell, I can hear a difference when I replace a leak of an album with a CD rip. It's definitely better quality. I also love the collecting aspect. Holding the physical product is great, as is having the art/liner notes/etc. Paying for something I can't see is bizarre.
  6. You couldn't be more wrong. The physical product taking up space is what makes me love CD's and records, and refuse to buy MP3s. Not to mention the vastly greater sound.
  7. Yup. I will never do it. I'll gladly buy CDs and records. But I won't pay for MP3's.
  8. I really dislike Fallon, but that was a spot-on impersonation.
  9. Yea, not a huge Christmas music fan myself, but I saw this at a Goodwill for $1, so I had to check it out. It's neat.
  10. Command+shift+4, then select what you want, and it'll be saved as "picture 1" on the desktop. Or command+shift+3 to capture the whole screen.
  11. Play the DVD on a computer, and screen cap it.
  12. No, I get what you mean. I can't remember the liner notes exactly, but Dylan doesn't take credit for Must Be Santa. My point is, it's a holiday song. Originality isn't the most prevalent aspect of a Christmas album.
  13. I can see that. But that's not "goofy" at all. I think Jim has one of the best voices around these days. Live, and with all the studio reverb.
  14. Jim isn't always a great lyricist. I like his writing often, but I can agree with that criticism. However, I don't think his vocals are "goofy" at all. What makes you say this?
  15. Nevermind might be Nirvana's worst album. Still great. But In Utero definitely trumps it, and Bleach might come close.
  16. No. A band breaking up because of negative feelings would likely lead to a terrible reunion. Especially now, with Jeff in a significantly bigger place than Jay. The resentment would be through the roof. They're giving the music it's due by not playing it if it won't be played by two (plus) guys who legitimately want to play it together.
  17. I don't think it's lame to not reunite because you have no interest in doing so. In that instance, the reunion would be the lame thing to do. The point is, the music is essentially in a museum for all to see. Did Picasso give every viewer of his work a live analysis of what it is? That's essentially the live concert equivalent of your painting in the basement analogy. Jeff and Jay not reuniting doesn't mean all UT music is banished forever. It just means they don't want to play together anymore, and I can't blame them at all.
  18. Your sense of entitlement is amazing. They can do whatever they want. They haven't destroyed the music, it exists and always will. But if they don't want to play the songs together again, so be it.
  19. It's a song on a christmas album. It's going to have been "copied" from someone. That's kinda the point of Christmas songs.
  20. They should deny you that music if they don't like each other enough to reunite. I'm not that keen on UT in general. But even so, I wouldn't want a reunion for the sake of a reunion.
  21. That "You really Got Me" performance wasn't really that bad. I kind of enjoyed it, actually.
  22. Saw them open for SFA a few months ago. Thought they were enjoyable, but a bit bland. I've listened to this album a few times, and it's quite pleasant.
