if you could eliminate 1 musical act/artist

Some people are allowed to do and be whatever they want, no matter how much of a dick they may appear to be. Bob Dylan is one of them. -
Definitely. If there's a good ticket available, and the price seems reasonable enough, then what the hell. But I'd hold out and see what happens closer to the show date. Because then you're more likely to get actual fans who ended up unable to go, and just want to get rid of the ticket for as close to face value as possible. I got a Roots ticket a few weeks ago, three days before the show, from a guy on Craigslist for below face value. Of course it's all personal preference and dependent on economics (I'm a student with no income. So had I not gotten a ticket to the Richmond Wilco show, I woul

Personally, I don't get how people can pay that much for second hand tickets from anywhere. Anytime a show sells out quickly, there's that initial rush of buyers and sellers, so they're a lot more pricey. Out of curiosity I've looked at this for other similar non-Wilco shows, and you can get tickets at or below face value from places like Stubhub and Craigslist if you wait until closer to the actual show date. But then again, there's a chance of a lesser seat, if it's not a GA venue.

Found this on vinyl at a local thrift store for $2. It's pretty great. Nice cross between the crazy, weird Mothers material and Zappa's jazz compositions. I don't listen to the earlier material too much, and I might have to correct this. I do, however, love listening to Lumpy Gravy while sitting in a public place. Interesting experience.

I bet they make bands sign a contract to not mock the venue name on stage.
-
I wish they'd gone with Jiffy Lube Pavilion. But hey, a shitty name is a shitty name. I can't wait to see it on some band's tour itinerary.
-
Well, I can't say much until I've listened to the whole thing more than once. But I'm not disappointed yet.

If you have an iPod touch, it seems the NPR stream is working now. I'm currently three songs in.

Easily the worst corporate venue name I've ever seen. I'm embarrassed to live so close to the place.

Now that it's January

I'm hoping they play some new stuff on these shows. This seems to be one of those "hardcore fan centered" tours, so maybe they will play new stuff. Or not. -
It would all depend on the artist, the band, the painting/picture, the album, etc. I remember reading that Jenny Saville was going to charge 30,000 pounds to use her painting for the Manics' album The Holy Bible, then let them have it for free after hearing about the songs on the album.

Leno / Conan / NBC / etc.
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to cryptique's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
If I were Conan, I'd be furious. it seems they gave him the choice of leaving, or taking the midnight spot, but this is fucked up. They made this big deal about being committed to Conan as the Tonight Show host, and now this happens? Jay Leno doesn't look good here either, because if this wasn't initiated by him, it wouldn't happen. -

It clearly is. Just look at this thread. Although everyone only agrees with their point, it's still a giant debate. -

Jesus, this thread is embarrassing. -
Oh yeah, definitely perfect. I love Bleach and Nevermind too, but this one kicks their asses. And it's so well-produced. Scentless Apprentice is my favorite Nirvana song, mostly for Kurt's screams, but also for how damn good the drums sound. But to me, the fact that it begins with the "teenage angst has paid off well..." line and ends with the eeriness of All Apologies is what makes the album so special. Brilliant stuff.

Guys, this is the internet. Everything is debatable. -
I'm fairly certain that I consider this to be a top five album of all time. So good.

Nice. -
Yea, I'm hesitant to believe these shows will be that different than the others. They might be a few songs longer, or have two "main" sets with a short break as well as the encores, or something. But Wilco touches on almost all their albums every night. We'll see once the tour starts. Regardless, I'm beyond psyched to see them in such a small venue. But I'm not gonna go in thinking that it'll be drastically different from my last two Wilco shows.

I don't mind a few Mystic Valley Band Conor songs, but his entire Bright Eyes catalogue reeks of trying too hard. His vocals and lyrics are such blatant attempts to be Dylan-esque, but they sound forced, which is as un-Dylan as can be. I don't mind his more recent, slower songs, like Temazcal on the MoF album. But when he sings faster songs, like pretty much all his other MoF songs, I want to hit him. -
I just watched the Seinfeld episode last night where Elaine is responsible for waking that African runner guy up for a race, and Jerry freaks out thinking she won't do it. I think of that episode every time I hear talk of alarms.

Agreed. I'm 20 years old, so I'm not gonna throw out a nostalgia trip about the old days, but the fact that this hasn't leaked is cool. Of course I'd love to hear it. But the fact that it's release date will, as of now, actually mean something is great.
