  1. Again, I'm not attacking it. I have no problem posting a list of great albums. Or reading other people's lists of great albums. Why else would I belong to any music message boards? A couple people had pointed out that this was just a bunch of people's lists of favorite albums, which is the case. I apologize if you took offense. But don't feel so attacked. And 1999 is an amazing album.
  2. But your criteria was that you just feel it. That's 100% correct, which is why you cannot define it. I agree with all that stuff about tracks in context and whatnot, but it's not a universal thing. Honestly, I was thinking this was a "best sounding album" thread, which is a whole different matter. Still subjective (what about music isn't subjective) but more of a discussion than people's favorite albums.
  3. Easy there. I wasn't attacking you. I'm just saying, an "amazing studio album" is different from person to person. There's no universal definition, which is why this thread is just people listing a bunch of albums they like.
  4. Which is why this thread is basically "list some good albums"
  5. Super Furry Animals - Fuzzy Logic Super Furry Animals - Radiator Super Furry Animals - Guerilla Super Furry Animals - Out Spaced Super Furry Animals - Mwng Super Furry Animals - Rings Around The World Super Furry Animals - Phantom Power Super Furry Animals - Love Kraft Super Furry Animals - Hey Venus! Super Furry Animals - Dark Days/Light Years I can not ever fully express how great each and every one of these albums are.
  6. I can't blame the Zeppelin guys for trying to put something together. But they've realized it's not happening, so that was that. JPJ seems beyond elated to be playing TCV material, so I think he has moved on from Zeppelin reunion talk.
  7. Nah, I still buy them. He keeps releasing enough good songs per album to warrant me purchasing them, so I'll continue doing so.
  8. You said "sail" instead of "sale." Hence the joke.
  9. Yea. Like I said, Up will win it, because it's a Pixar film, and it's damn good. But the animation in Fantastic Mr. Fox was refreshing. Stop motion is a wonderful medium when done right, and that movie was a great example of it. Not to mention how much I loved the screenplay of Fox. I'm a large fan of Pixar's storytelling, but Wes Anderson made Dahl's story into a really wonderful screenplay. Maybe the nomination alone will make more people see it. I really think it's an incredible movie.
  10. It won't happen, but I'd love to see Fantastic Mr. Fox win best animated film. I loved Up as well, but I think Fox was a better movie.
  11. It's no surprise that he was in there, really. The Grammy's always list the big names, and Jay is more or less a big name. I saw his death story on the front page of AOL and Yahoo, so it was a relatively big piece of news. The Grammy's may suck as a legitimate award, but those death lists are always longer than just the biggest names.
  12. I like this guy. If Jay had no intention of doing it, he shouldn't have said he would. Done.
  13. Gawker.tv has been my favorite discovery of the past few weeks. Good site.
  14. http://tv.gawker.com/5459642/jimmy-kimmel-reacts-to-lenos-cries-of-being-suckerpunched-on-his-own-show I need to start watching Kimmel more often. I like his style.
  15. But Jay says himself that he's a comedian first. He said in the Oprah interview that he basically lives off of his stand up money. So if he didn't have a show, based on his own admissions, he'd be just fine doing stand up comedy instead.
  16. I have a major issue with the way Jay seems to be OK with the fact that he had no intention of giving up the Tonight Show in a drama free fashion, despite promising on air that he would do just that. Basically, yes, I believe what almost everyone in the business has said about Jay. He's spineless, and has no problem screwing others over, as long as there's an excuse he can hide behind.
  17. Oh please. That was hardly Oprah asking "tough questions" and Conan fans learning what really happened. It was Jay trying desperately to look like a good guy, and downright lying a couple times. If that's what he deems damage control, then I almost feel abd for him. It's like he really has no idea why people were upset. Saying, paraphrased, "I had no intention of retiring when I said I would" doesn't justify all this. It means he lied once on air, and either lied again now, or legitimately believes what he says. Either way, he reeks of desperately trying to rationalize his behavior.
  18. I read somewhere that he wasn't allowed to give any interviews for a certain time. I know the September/badmouthing stuff is legit, but I'm fairly certain I saw the interview detail as well. Don't quote me on it, though. Either way, I don't know how Jay can expect people to believe he's an innocent victim, just trying to do what the network wants.
  19. I haven't watched the Oprah interview, but I think it's bullshit that Conan's divorce contract says he can't give any interviews for a few months, but Jay can immediately run to Oprah and try to save face.
  20. Great song. I'm a Weezer defendant to this day, but IYW is especially great. They're busting out many turds these days. But the good songs are still there.
  21. No. They shouldn't. They deserved better, just as Conan deserves better than what NBC wanted to give him. But the fact remains that they gave him a huge something in the first place.
