  1. But without NBC, Conan's career is a whole different thing, and he most likely wouldn't be in a position to host any talk show. Granted, the NBC people that gave him his chance 20 years ago are different from those who ass fucked him now, but NBC still gave him his career. The Tonight Show with Conan clearly didn't work, but that doesn't, shouldn't and apparently didn't change the fact that Conan owes a lot to NBC.
  2. He had every right to have a few fuck you's during the negotiation process. NBC wasn't exactly fair to him. But that doesn't mean he wasn't genuinely thankful at the same time.
  3. Thanking NBC does not mean he's OK with what happened. He acknowledged that they're having their differences right now, but NBC made him, and gave him his career to begin with. The fact that he was still able to acknowledge that was refreshing. I loved his NBC bashing jokes, but I was happy to see him thank them anyway. Going out with a "fuck NBC" rant was the easy way out, because everyone expected that.
  4. Thanking NBC took more balls than any insult he could have thrown out.
  5. After Prince, nothing else compares. I will be watching the Who, though. I saw them a few years back, and they still put on a good show.
  6. I love Ferguson, but I don't see this happening. I just don't think he's the kind of comedian who will have that mass appeal like Letterman/Leno.
  7. Oh yeah, definitely. I was expecting him to transition from "I can legally say whatever I want" to an NBC rant. But he didn't. He was already the good guy in all of this, but the fact that he went out thanking NBC says a lot. It was so far from the bitterness I think a lot of people expected from his last show. But he seemed 100% sincere, and I gained a lot more respect for him after that.
  8. Yes, the last episode was wonderful. I watched it fraiday night, and again over the weekend. I've said this before, but he really showed a lot of character. Great speech, great Hanks interview, great Neil Young performance, and such a fitting ending. I think the Free Bird performance was a better way to end the show than a speech. Wonderful as Conan's farewell speech was, it would have been too sad of an ending. It'll be interesting to see what happens when he's allowed to host a show again. Obviously NBC is hoping his support dies down, but we'll see. It would be so great if Conan gets a FO
  9. I'm pretty sure that was Will Ferrell's wife. I don't know her name, though.
  10. I never got to see him live, but I've heard he's great. The last album I bought on was Both Sides if the Gun. Great album, and his older albums are terrific as well. I think I'll have to rediscover him soon.
  11. I used to love Ben Harper's music. I haven't paid much attention to him in a while, but he's an incredible guitarist. I was glad to see him on Conan's last show, even though he wasn't announced/introduced or anything.
  12. As awesome as a Conan/Stewart/Colbert run would be, it won't happen. Conan won't come out of this and immediately create controversy by messing with Comedy Central's schedule. They run stuff like South Park in the 10PM slot, and there's no way he'd do anything that would push Stewart/Colbert back. Besides, I don't think he wants to do cable. I'm sure that in the years past, he's gotten offers to host a talk show on cable. But I think he wants the wider audience of a network show. And I loved the Freebird bit. It was a much better way to go out than a Conan speech. I'm happy he gave his w
  13. I don't really watch special features, so I'm fine with this being a regular DVD release. And like ^ just said, $30 is just the suggested price. It'll be less than $20. I'll definitely be picking this one up.
  14. I think it's pretty obvious that Conan wants to host a late-night talk show. So I'd wager a lot of money that he'll find a way to keep doing that.
  15. The stock people put in Pitchofrok reviews, or reviews in general, never ceases to amaze me. If you like the album, and rate it higher than a 7.8, who gives a shit if Pitchfork disagrees? That being said, their review is extremely fair.
  16. There's nothing wrong with liking anything Dave Grohl is involved in. The man is wonderful.
  17. I might have to read this Ferguson novel. I can tell he's a brilliant writer, and fiction seems like it might be a good forum for his talents.
  18. The damage to NBC's reputation is another couple million dollars worth.
  19. I agree with all of this. Especially the one about Cobain. I love his vocals so much. Unplugged really proved his range. In general, I think reggae is boring music.
  20. I think Conan is a smart enough comedian/writer that he'll find a way to keep using those characters, despite NBC technically retaining the rights to them. I mean, all he has to do is change the name slightly. Instead of a masturbating bear, it's a masturbating gorilla. Stuff like that. Same with any potential "don't badmouth NBC" clause. I have no faith that Conan will refrain from referencing NBC after this is all settled. Nor should he. They fucked up in a big way. I hope Conan gets a show on Fox at 11:35, and gets the time needed to build the audience he's well capable of.
  21. Besides the fact that Conan isn't hosting his dream show anymore, he's supposedly losing all of the characters and sketches he created while at NBC. He'll probably find a way around that, but word is NBC is retaining rights to stuff like the Masturbating Bear under an Intellectual Property law.
