If you're that sensitive about anything against Jay, you might want to leave the board. There's no one here who will deny Jay's great contributions to Wilco's evolution, but there's a lot of negative posts regarding the guy. It doesn't at all mean the board has any less respect for his talents.

That thread was hilarious. I realize you're putting the post-death spin on it, but at the time it was created, that thread was brilliant. Especially every post by Speed Racer. And none of it was meant to offend.

You almost have a point. I can fully understand not liking the newer Wilco records. But you've written them off completely, which is ridiculous. And it's not egotistical for Jeff to take shots at Jay. It's not like they had a healthy relationship before Jay died. Tragic as it was, that can't possibly negate all the shit that went down between them. Expecting Jeff to endlessly praise Jay right now is ridiculous. He's handling the situation well, I think. Basically, Jeff knows Jay was crucial to his artistic development. But the freshest Jay-related thing in his mind is still the bi

This is easily one of the dumbest statements I've ever read on post-Jay Wilco.

Neat piece. I liked the songs they chose to play snippets of. My only complaint is the mechanical way the interviewer said "Wilco," which seemed strange to me. As for the complaints about Jeff-centered coverage, that's pretty much to be expected. He is the lead singer after all. The big articles will focus on him, and the rest of the band will get interviewed by more specific magazines (Nels by guitar magazines, and Glenn for drum magazines, etc) as well as slighter mentions in the bigger articles. It's not really a shock.

It really is. I'm very into French Pop lately, and Serge happens to be the master of it. This album is ridiculous. -

Sparklehorse: In The Fishtank

Linkous is one of my favorite songwriters around. The dude's a genius. I've loved every Sparklehorse album, and DNOTS is something special as well. I will certainly check this thing out. Any idea what it is? I think I remember this Fennesz fellow being a live collaborator at some point. -

Pitchfork's Top 500 Songs of the Decade
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to Dude's topic in Just A Fan
Seriously? It's a Pitchfork list. You can't be shocked to see all the indie buzz bands represented. It's their market, and despite how much I usually dislike Pitchfork, this is a good list so far. -
(False Alarm) Wilco on the cover of Rolling Stone?

I believe that's the image. -

It's the Beatles. Google Beatles 69, and the third image result looks rather similar. -

Same. I played the fuck out of this thing when they released it. Almost two years later, and it's still mindblowing. -

Just amazing. The full version of Tommy is pretty incredible, even without all the horns/various other embellishments. -
No, I can't get the really tall man from the Simpsons out of my head long enough to think of a song.
-
Yea, I definitely think the honorable thing to do is to offer to let someone in front, but I just think it creates an uncomfortable situation for tall man. If short man three rows back sees front row tall man let second row short man in front of him, what's to stop third row short man from asking for the same? Eventually, front row tall man finds himself way further back in the crowd than he wanted to be. I'm of average height, so I tend to not have a problem on either end, but it's a complex balance.
-
I have mixed feelings about this. I think, if asked, the tall person should let a short person in front, but it puts the tall person in an incredibly awkward situation. If he says yes, his front row spot is gone. if he says no, he's an ass, and he will be discussed and bashed mercilessly on boards like this.
-
Obviously tall people block aspects of the show, but I just don't see how you can say they shouldn't be allowed in the front. Height is certainly not controllable. If a freakishly tall person loves Wilco, and gets to a show good and early, then sucks for the people who end up behind him. But I think it's ridiculous to expect taller folks to sacrifice the chance at a front row spot.
-
"Do you find something comical about my appearance while I am driving my automobile?
-
Well, tall people are not the only ones who cut through crowds. Anyone doing that is obnoxious, so that's not really the point. But saying that tall people should give up front row spots is just ludicrous. If they got there early, and legitimately got that spot, then by all means, it's theirs. Shorter people can work around them.
-
Agreed. Everyone at these shows paid money to enjoy a show. Not everyone enjoys shows the same way. Unless it REALLY bothers me, then I could care less what other people are doing. If I'm bothering someone, and they ask me to stop, I'll stop. I'd hope for the same courtesy from others. People that have a sense of entitlement that every concertgoer must follow this common set of rules are just foolish to me.
-
No offense, but that's bullshit. If a tall person got there early, waited in line, why should he/she not be allowed to have that front row spot? I think shorter people should think about this, and get to the show earlier to get up there for themselves, instead of having to ask/bitch about a tall person being there.

Now that you mention it, I do recall seeing X shows listed places. My mistake.
