  1. Has he taken to freelance online journalism in case the Wilco suit doesn't work out?
  2. It's a very good cover. Dylan sings it beautifully. And I mean that with no sarcasm at all.
  3. Yes. It'll undoubtedly ring a bell with everyone else who heard the earlier live versions and said the same thing.
  4. I hope you're kidding. Because I didn't think anyone could be dumb enough to think that this revelatory thought warrants its own thread.
  5. No idea. They all say something that has already been said in the main album thread.
  6. This record will go down as the most overanalyzed thing ever. It's a collection of songs Jeff deemed worthy of release at this point in time. Take it for what it is.
  7. Radiohead is not a mainstream band, they just have a fair amount of mainstream popularity.
  8. But of course. That's how the Jay Bennett lawsuit will be handled. He will receive a fortune in Wilco tote bags, and will be free to do with them as he will.
  9. It already leaked, so the stream can't hurt anymore than the leak did. This way, it's easier for casual fans to find and hear the new record without having to search and download. These fans might then buy the record, especially after seeing the band have good spirits about their music leaking.
  10. Yea, I saw those pictures too. That's pretty much what leads me to believe that it was a intentional tribute to Harrison.
  11. I would say it's intentional. I think Harrison/the Beatles were a pretty big influence on this album, so Jeff/whoever gave a little nod to George in the song. Not a full on case of plagiarism, but just a little conscious tip of the hat. A guy like Jeff wouldn't be able to accidently rip off a Beatles song. The guy knows music too well for that.
  12. So, I think I'm just gonna go for the LP/CD combo, and hold off on a nice tour shirt in July, but that $9 shipping from Kung Fu is a bit of a turnoff. I can get the LP/CD from Nonesuch for $19, with $2 shipping. But these contest prizes seem desirable to me. What to do, what to do.
  13. I got used to the vocals after a few listens. Now, I really don't notice it at all.
  14. I disagree on the Eminem. Some of the songs on that album are on par with his best work. Some of them aren't. But as a whole, I think it's a decent to good album.
  15. Hadn't heard a Jay Bennett joke in a while. Well done.
  16. That single is not at all reflective of his new album. It is pretty Weird Al-esque satire, something he'd already done, but the album as a whole is rather good.
  17. Bob Dylan, while still loved, can not build up the anticipation like Eminem's first new album in five years. I didn't even know the BEP's had a new album, so that must not have been too hyped. The last two have their audiences, but still, i don't see any competition here.
  18. Green Day I'll accept as anticipated, and maybe U2, but Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective? Are you kidding me? You do realize that these two bands still have such a niche following, right? Whether you like him or not, Eminem has way more fans and hype than GB and AC, it's just not as present on message boards.
  19. It's pretty much inevitable that an album will leak these days. The only album I've followed that hasn't leaked was Super Furry Animals' "Dark Days/Light Years." Although the initial release of that one was via the band's website, no copies got out before the band put it up for order/download from their website.
  20. I'd say it could very well be. It's a pretty good album, for what it's worth.
  21. I google map'd it, and it's literally just a 3/4 story building on a generic looking city street. It is, however, across the street from a discount outlet. That Tweedy fellow knows what he's doing.
  22. Yea, I pointed this one out earlier in this thread. That's how I always heard that line. I assumed it's just a "we do more for you than most bands you listen to" type thing.
  23. Oh god yes. That loft must be insured to hell and back.
  24. The number of guitars in this photo is mindblowing. That loft must have an absolute fortune in equipment.
  25. I think "You Never Know" is a great single choice. Wilco The Song might be seen as too much of a joke, and You And I would be seen too much as a Feist song. YNN is a great, catchy song with a good chorus. it could get a fair amount of radio play.
