This is an announcement-only post which is being cross-posted in every sub-forum, for those people who don't stray from Just a Fan, or Someone Else's Song, or whatever. For discussion on the topic, please go to the thread in TTL: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/41671-donations-and-t-shirts/ This thread will self-destruct in one week (give or take). After much ado, and kicking around a few ideas that were way over-complicated, we've come down to two fund-raising methods. We hope you'll all think about supporting the site by either making a donation (of any size) or buying a t-shirt (a

We hope you'll all think about supporting the site by either making a donation (of any size) or buying a t-shirt (also of any size ): First, you can donate directly by clicking here: That'll take you straight to a PayPal page, where you can make a donation in any amount, using your paypal account or a credit card (if anyone would prefer to donate by check or any other method, please PM me). Happy Day, Saint Genevieve! We miss you terribly. With the new format for the board, we couldn't get the Natopia banner up again this year. But don't worry, we all still know it's your world, we just live here. :cheekkiss For remembrances of Natalie, check out this thread: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/32865-natalie-jane-st-genevieve/ And for anyone who'd like to remember Natalie with a contribution to a good cause: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/33567-the-saint-genevieve-fund/

I had to click through to his resume, because I was really hoping that his department at MIT was actually called "Media Blah Blah Blah".

Yeah, I can't do this one anymore. I'm out.

Again, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. Her life has been lived under some pretty harsh lights, and she obviously never learned a whole lot about dealing with things in healthy ways. So I'm going to cut her some slack.

We live in a fame-obsessed culture. I think that people who once had a little bit of fame, and feel that they can use that fame to maybe help someone else, should be allowed to try. I don't know, I may be way off base on this. Maybe it is all about selling books. I'd prefer to give her the benefit of the doubt. I agree, Chris, and I think any in-depth reading of her story will probably make this point. I'm guessing that what she's pointing to here are those relationships where the participants believe that they're consenting. I believe she says that it started with rape, and became

For most of her life, she's been known as a homely, druggie, washed-up former child/teen star. If there's some reason that her life was hell, and talking about it can make other people realize that they're not fundamentally fucked-up, that maybe they need to deal with that kind of crap head-on, then I think she's doing a good thing. Apologies for that last sentence. I think I said what I meant to say, even if it wasn't pretty.

So very helpful! edit: I just noticed, Analogman's last post was the 100,000th reply in this forum! I'm glad it was that, and not some of the jackassery that's been going on around here lately.
-
I could download it right now without the disc. I don't remember if I needed to have the disc in to order it in the first place, though.
-
Ashes definitely comes up on mine. Maybe because I did order it right away? I don't know... edit: Actually, it doesn't show up in the drop-down Product list, but it does show up as if I've already ordered it. So now I don't know how I got that!
-
I'm looking back through the older threads on the DVD downloads, and the problem some people seemed to be having was that it's not really clear that you have to actually click on the thing that looks like you're ordering something. I think that's how it works, though, you need to Select A Product, then click Order. Then go back, and under Subscriptions, click on where it says AOAF, and the download should start. Pretty confusing.

Hey Sam, welcome! A very helpful VCer posted this recently: I just checked that link, looks like it's a good one. So try that, you may need to create a username for Wilcoworld, but that should do it. Let us know if that doesn't work for you.

Congratulations! Have you seen Craig Ferguson's new book, American on Purpose? It's on my to-read list!
-
These books are my go-to for: So much fun. I like that sound of that Mark Costello, too.

You may want to check the Rules and Regulations thread again, particularly this section: Avoid being dismissive of other peoples' opinions. Try "I don't see it that way." instead of "That's bullsh*t!" or "I don't care for that band" rather than "That band sucks!" It's called civility. I'm not deleting your post (for now), but seriously, watch it.
-
Hee! This thread is usually drama-free, and that's the way I like it. Now hurry up and post your review of that dime-store novel, please. (I'm way overdue to go through this thread and steal all of your picks, to add to my reading list...)
-
I'm perfectly willing to believe that everyone involved in the faux-poo mailing situation was in on the joke, and had fun. I'm not so sure that "everyone" is having fun in this case. And yeah, I'm well aware that threads like this almost always degenerate into pure nonsense, and I'm fine with that. But sometimes, a thread should just be allowed to die a peaceful death... Ha! I don't remember whether or not it was a full moon when that happened. But I'll take full responsibility for that particular shit-storm.
-
Or maybe just a little less stirring of the shit? Seriously, it's not even a full moon. What's up with everyone these past few days?
-
Welcome back! And congrats on the forthcoming little one!
-
It's times like this I really miss Natalie.
-
I really like seeing it in context with his other photos from the same time/place. Neat!
