  1. Hey guys, it's been a while since my last post here. I hope you are all doing well! My band Butchers Blind is still kicking around, and we just released a new single on vinyl. I hope you guys dig it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPjzusyTLgI We also have released another LP in my forum-absence, so you can check it out here if you're interested: http://www.butchersblind.com/music I'd love to know what you guys think!
  2. Saw this thread over at the Wilco subreddit. What do you guys think? If it's true, I'm pretty excited! http://www.reddit.com/r/wilco/comments/1xkqqh/some_privileged_information_about_new_wilcojeff/
  3. I feel so bad for that guitar player. His amp crapped out at the worst possible time ever. Lucero earlier on in the stream too. Pretty cool. Thanks for the post.
  4. John Stirratt and Ken Coomer played on 'Replace You' from The Magnificent Defeat. Great record. The Courtesy Move played a larger role on The Palace at 4am and also played on two tracks from Bigger Than Blue.
  5. I say go for I Am What I Am and The Grand Tour to start. Old country stars like George Jones have a TON of records, and it's easy to get lost. I also got a kickass compilation of his duets with Tammy Wynette for 3 bucks.
  6. My band got a gig opening for Malcolm Holcombe. I picked up his record A Hundred Lies and I think it's pretty great. Any more recommendations? Have get my homework done before the show.
  7. From 'Born Alone': "Will you ever try the cold cuts before you die, more aware of it then me?"
  8. The synth solo in Billy Joel's 'Sleeping With The Television On.' A nice crunchy guitar solo would have done the job just fine.
  9. I thought I was the only one! This show was great, I have it on DVD. 'No Sense In Lovin' from this show is probably my favorite guitar moment.
  10. He had to have one for 'Forget the Flowers' type stuff. He also could have used the Micro Amp at a low setting, who knows. Nothing from the other boards yet. We're closer than anyone else has been before. Thanks for helping everyone. I'm also glad we haven't gotten any "you guys are wasting your time because tone is in the hands" type comments. Haha.
  11. I think we can confirm the MXR pedals and the Tremodillo. The only mystery here is the Arion and what might be a delay on the top. That gearpage post reminded me, Jay definitely used a Distortion Plus at some point. However, there's no way it was on his board in that video. The Boss could be a delay... I remember seeing one in the Steve Pride videos (highly recommended.) If the Boss was a delay and the Arion is a tuner, that leaves out a compressor, which he definitely used.
  12. Of course. I think the Arion box is either a compressor or EQ. Since those pedals are stereo mostly, it makes sense it would be first in the chain, so he can run signals to both amps. Guitargeek thinks the blue box on the top left is a Diaz Tremodillo. They also theorized that the Arion is a tuner, and the Boss is a delay. However, it wouldnt make sense with the placement in his signal chain. Time based effects like the trem go last usually, which leads me to believe the top middle pedal is a delay of some kind. http://www.guitargee...42/#post1140113 Oh, and the pedalboard money sho
  13. Maybe a post on some gear forums will help us out. We've come this close, there's no turning back now.
  14. I'm pretty sure he had some sort of slapback delay, and a compressor for those country moments (Forget the Flowers.) The boss could be a delay, and the Arion looking pedal could be a tuner. It's tough to say. This is the only decent picture of his pedalboard I've ever seen.
  15. It looks like one knob on the right, and a footswitch on the left. Also has some blue on there. Definitely the size of a Memory Man, not sure if its an older model or something.
  16. Allright guys, it's my first post in a while. I've been searching the net for years to no avail. I finally got this screen capture of Jay Bennett's board from an ACL episode they taped in 99. I see an Ernie ball volume pedal, boss tuner, what looks like an MXR Blue Box and a Micro Amp (which I'm positive he used.) The pedal to the far right looks like an Arion type pedal, and I'm not sure what the two on the top are. Any guesses?
  17. Bill Fay - Life Is People James Iha - Look to the Sky Lots of cool records coming out this year!
  18. There's also a new Sherry Rich album coming out soon. She made her first record with the Courtesy Move (Wilco minus Jeff.) New stuff features members of Wilco and sounds pretty great. Some of the songs were on Jay Bennett's last album, Kicking at the Perfumed Air. http://www.sherryrich.com/music.html
  19. Howdy folks. My band, Butchers Blind, is recording a new album next month. We just filmed an interview/live performance and talked about the new tunes. Would love to know what you guys think.
