  1. I came SO close to buying the new-ish record today. Should have picked it up. Anyway, if you have to get only one, get 'Tennessee.' I think its by far their best record. 'That Much Further West' rules too.
  2. Alejandro Escovedo is the king of all shit. He rocks nowadays.
  3. I'm gonna go ahead and say it. This thread is kinda dumb.
  4. Pete Moss and the Fertilizers. Best band name ever. I haven't even heard their music.
  5. I've decided I need a compressor to complete my rig. Has anyone had experience with these pedals? I feel its like choosing between dyna-comp's big character and the cs-3's unobtrusive but not as musical compression. What do you guys think?
  6. Laughter is overrated, it used to be so much better.
  7. Get '14 songs' and 'Stereo' and call it a day. 'Dead Man Shake' also rules. If you really need more Westerberg, (trust me, I've been there) download 'Besterberg.' This is already assuming you own everything the Replacements have ever done, which I believe is required listening. Hope that helps. Also, if you do some digging online, you can find 'Shit Hits the Fans.' It's the only official Replacements live record. Great stuff.
  8. SO pumped. Just got my tickets for both nights. ALSO: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/68404/238413
  9. Sorry. I was kinda talking about how good that record was compared to some of his other stuff, but yeah. Sorry.
  10. I looked for some Buck, I couldn't find any. I printed everything out before. Listening to the Gary Stewart now, it's great. Also, don't laugh... but 'Like Red on a Rose' by Alan Jackson is actually really good.
  11. Just got back from my local record store. I got some Waylon, Willie, and a Gary Stewart two-fer. I was surprised, they didn't have a good deal of the titles everyone mentioned.
  12. uh, the kay-settes starring butchers blind?
  13. This thread rocks, thanks guys. Hayes Carll and Jamey Johnson are pretty cool for new guys. I have a little Cash, and I definitely need more Willie. I'm gonna make the vinyl section my bitch next week.
  14. Wow, thanks man! Night Life is a great record, otherwise I haven't heard much of anyone you mentioned. I've also been meaning to get some Townes Van Zandt. This is gonna keep me busy for a while, can't wait to hit the record store.
  15. I've been very into classic country for the past year or so. I've got stuff by Hank, Loretta Lynn, Waylon, Billy Joe Shaver, Doug Sahm, George Jones, Merle Haggard, and the Louvin Bros.(check them all out if you haven't yet). I thought I was really cool until I heard Tom T. Hall and I realized I don't know shit about country music. I feel like there's still so much I haven't heard. Does anyone have any recommendations of old-time country singers I haven't heard yet?
  16. Does anybody know who wrote the poem "first lines" in the Wilco Book? Its toward the beginning.
  17. the london souls rule. i listened to 'shake your money maker' today, so this post is relevant. i cant believe rich robinson was 19 when they made that record. crazy
  18. well, when a topic is "how can people talk throughout a show?" what do you think people are gonna write about? maybe you can teach me about going to concerts and posting etiquette while you're at it. cause apparently i just dont get it.
  19. i was really into these guys for a long time, and then i was denied access (by the bouncer) to one of their shows. bowery ballroom, the 'we all belong tour.' for some reason, i haven't listened to them since.
  20. when i was at the boston show, these two weird ass dudes wouldnt shut up the entire time. they were reviewing the concert in REAL TIME. as the music was going on, this guy kept comparing it to other shows he's seen. when they played that acoustic version of spiders kidsmoke, he was like: "oh yeah. acoustic spiders. this is great. hooray acoustic spiders." its kinda funny now, but not so much during the show
  21. i think wilco will pick good acts. im leaving it up to them.
  22. i cant wait for this festival! i might just sleep in my outback, we should grill and have some jams! im gonna bring my guitar. seriously, lets all meet up. this should be a lot of fun
  23. am i the only one who thinks its dumb that you cant just pitch a tent? that hotel is crazy expensive. they had better let you sleep in the car
