  1. The other thing is you should go on Neil's Facebook page for his reaction.  He must promote his own shit like 20 times in the "rant".  All he talks about is Pono and his new disc and other shit he is trying to push.

Isn't it just marketers that write that stuff though? Honestly, I have no idea.

  2. On a completely unrelated note I just picked up a Canadian pressing of Comes A Time for like $5, and it sounds excellent. I feel like I've always underappreciated this album but the vinyl version sounds so much warmer and alive than the CD version did.

It's like listening to the album for the first time again. :)

  3. Has anyone else seen this documentary yet? I saw it last night in Seattle and I have to say I was pretty impressed. As a fan there was a lot in it that I didn't know before, the only thing I wish they did differently was show less montages of bridges in Portland  :yeaahh

There were parts in it where they played stuff that Elliott said in interviews that genuinely made me laugh laugh out loud, if anything I think this documentary helped showed the side of Elliott Smith that wasn't a depressed singer songwriter all of the time. I think it was definitely worth the price of admission.

  4. You won't regret it. Especially if you've never experienced these albums on vinyl before. There's so much cool stuff printed on the LP jackets and on the inserts. It's like listening to the album for the first time again. And they sound amazing, obviously.

  5. Actually it does! And all of the albums come with the original paper sleeves with the artwork printed on them, although the records themselves come in a separate high quality sleeve. On The Beach even has the floral pattern printed on the inside of the jacket. I was very pleasantly surprised with the amount of effort that went into making them.

  6. So I caved and bought the box set yesterday. It was the only thing my record store had left over form Record Store Day that I was interested in.

As someone who grew up with these albums on CD, and a bootlegged copy of Time Fades Away, these albums look awesome and sound even better. Especially On The Beach and Zuma. There's something about how everything's packaged and the artwork that comes with the albums that is undeniably cool. It really feels like you are a part of a secret. Like you and Neil are taking your own personal journey through the past.

The box sets are going for $500 on eBay now, so can't complain too much about the price I guess.

  7. I don't know if anyone else has been waiting on their Collector's Choice order but I called their customer service today and they said it was still on back order for another 2 to 6 months. I canceled my order with them and went to the Wilco Kung Fu store and saw how much they charged for shipping, so I found a nice third party seller on Amazon to buy from. Now I can patiently wait and look forward for my copy of Alpha Mike Foxtrot to arrive!
