  1. it is fun, but i'm probably gonna hop out after this month. it's the same issue i have had with digital music since the onset. i don't like it. i much prefer to focus on a few artists and their real world content (cds, merch.) rather than have too much stuff to listen to. i will say that spotify is almost there when it comes to managing digital music.

I can definitely see that perspective, sometimes the vast amount of music available can be overwhelming. My biggest complaint about the service so far though is the interface, it does seem a little half finished, especially when browsing for music. But the service itself is great for what it is. I went ahead and got the $9.99 premium plan so I could listen on my phone and without ads, it seems worth it so far.

  2. Maybe I'm weird, but I like a lot of Neil's stuff from this decade. Greendale, Prairie Wind, and Living With War are just as good as anything he put out in the 70's, in my opinion. Living With War was the most emotional thing he's put out since Tonight's the Night, he's practically in tears on a few of the songs. I don't see how you couldn't appreciate that. I haven't heard this new recording yet but I'm looking forward to it since although it might not be his best period, it is certainly one of his most interesting and it sounds like he has a real solid group of musicians backing him on it.

  3. Wtf? Led Zeppelin, Kid Rock, and Pink Floyd are already on iTunes. The people who wrote this article clearly have no idea what they're talking about.

If anything I think they might be about to announce their cloud service, or their iteration of the Lala software they acquired recently.

  4. HMD

    Jesus, Etc.

    Ashes of American Flags

I'm The Man Who Loves You

    Muzzle of Bees

According to my Last.fm profile though the songs would be:

    HMD

    Handshake Drugs

    Via Chicago

    Ashes

    Jesus, Etc.

I guess those two songs are different because I listen to a lot of different live versions, rather than mostly the studio versions.

ooooo - where can I get a copy of Spiders acoustic?

    http://www.owlandbear.com/wilco-archive/

They played it acoustic a lot last winter, as far as I know there is no studio recording of that version.

  5. I guess I'm one of the few that have actually enjoyed most of his post 70's output. Admittadly the 80's were pretty weak for the most part, but Trans and Freedom were both excellent albums. All of his 90's albums were solid, and as far as his 00's albums go most of them were really good. Especially Greendale and Living With War. LWW was his most emotionally raw album since Tonight's the Night (he's almost in tears on a few songs), and Prairie Wind is classic too. Oh and let's not forget about Greendale.

It seems like even now, a lot of fans are still expecting a repeat of Harvest or After the Goldrush which is not going to happen, and frankly I don't know if I'd want that either. Not many artists are putting out albums today that are as strong as the ones they made when they were younger, but Neil is and I respect him for it.
