  1. the tindersticks albums! (and loads of other things people have said already)
  2. the end. ....now, "where does jeff buy those lovely shoes of his?"
  3. you could be right. i'm no expert on that sort of thing. another phrase which is quite weird is "My arse!" - which is used by the working class, and basically means "nonsense!" here is it being used properly:
  4. bloody seems to cut across all the classes. it's how you say it which differs from class to class. "bloody hell!" is working class. "those bloody neighbours kids are making a bloody racket again!" is middle class. "you can't get the bloody staff these days" is upper class.
  5. hmmm. i don't think so. i looked transitive verb up on wikipedia and it and it doesn't seem to fit into that. it must be something!
  6. it's definately not used by pretentious types. i'm pretty sure i rarely use it, for example. i guess it's just another example of being seperated by a common language. anyway, now you know! see if you can slip it into a conversation some time.
  7. correct. although, like i said, you can only be it in a negative sense - so you can't use it in exactly the same way as "Bothered". because, you can say - "yes, i am bothered". but, if you replaced bothered for arsed, it wouldn't make sense. "yes, i am arsed" is wrong. very wrong. is there a term for this type of word? anyone?
  8. you can't "BE ARSED" - you can only ever "NOT BE ARSED". does that help in any way?
  9. my favourite donovan album: i've actually got the original vinyl boxset which includes some really great individual pages of lyrics (A4 size) with illustrations. it's also been reissued very recently on cd, but with an awful cover for some weird reason.
  10. That's not a cover. I think that the greatest hits version of Catch the Wind (or the one I have) is actually a live version from the late 1960s, early 1970s - a tv show i'd imagine or radio session as the sound is very good. It's got a full band production too. edit: got that slightly wrong - they are studio versions, just re-recorded for the greatest hits. not tv/radio versions.
  11. cool. glad you are liking it. if you really like all of it then i'd actually suggest buying their albums in order. fuzzy logic - their debut - is incredibly accomplished for a debut, and it still sounds good now (unlike most of the other british albums from the same period). np. Love & Theft - Bob Dylan
  12. No offense taken. I clearly said EVENTUALLY tour playing the hits. Now go back and read it all again, and then you'll see that everything you've said has nothing to do with what i actually said. Let's have this discussion again in a few years time, when this does EVENTUALLY happen, though.
  13. yeah! i intended to be on time the other night, damn it! but, certain things just got in the way.
  14. i think it would be nice, but i sadly think that they're going to end up doing what most bands do - which is gradually make less interesting new material, slowly lose their peripheral fanbase, and eventually tour playing the hits - with a couple of new songs chucked in every now and again. that's the way of most bands, and only a very very small minority don't do this. i think i'll give them one more album, and if i don't like it, i'll stop thinking about them as a contemporary band - and just as a band from the past, so i'd assume lots of other people will probably do a similar thing. nothing
  15. Righty Ho. I'm uploading it right now. It doesn't seem to have any songs from their first album on the mix, which is a shame - but all other albums are covered. I'll send you the link once it's finished. If anyone else wants it - send me a pm. np.
  16. I've actually got a pretty good Super Furry Animals compilation on my computer - with tracks from across their whole career, if you want me to upload it. Let me know. I'm happy to do so. I think they are an incredible band, and it's often hard to say which album people should get, because all are brilliant and different in their own ways - so a compilation might help you work out which albums to get next. (you've gotta get them all eventually though!)
  17. I've got the leak now, and listening to this is bringing me far more enjoyment than his last album did, on first listen. It's a shame that the backing singing had to be so cheesy though. Dylan's going to split something, singing Hark The Herald Angels Sing, surely!
  18. yeah. seeing them fine. have you got the "configure post options" bit different than it should be - maybe that's messing with things. np. nothing (so i don't even know why i came into this thread)
  19. i haven't even heard the samples. apart from finding the charity thing a bit annoying, i'm just guessing his band hasn't gotten any better since the last 2 albums - that's my biggest gripe with all this (having not even heard it, of course ).
