That's a good way to put it. I've had this for two or three days now and keep coming back to it, letting it spin two or three times consecutively . It's a bit all over the place which makes it a really great listen.

Neither do I. Critics get so hung up on expectations. How would they approach a record like this one if they didn't have the band's previous output to compare it against? Either something moves you or it doesn't. Pretty simple. It does not have to ascribe stylistically to anything that came before. That's just boring and un-imaginative.

Great thing about this Bonaroo set is, no matter how you feel about the new material; ( and I've honestly come to enjoy it as much as "Z") it really solidifies your expectations for a live performance on this tour. I bought tickets for myself and my nephews for a September gig. They are not fans. But I feel confident they're really going to enjoy this show. Can't wait!
