  1. I noticed this weekend while reviewing a journal I keep that for the past 3 years during Spring I've tackled one large novel (7-800 pages). Large novels being complimentary to sunny cool evenings outside on the porch along with refreshing beverages.
  2. Congrats on the new wheels. I saw this Electra model, a Ticino, which apparently is a series released late last year for the first time just this past weekend and am seriously considering it for kicking around town. Simple lines, a beautiful crankset single speed w/ a chain guard. Not as heavy as you'd expect a chro-moly frame to be either.
  3. I'm a Redskins fan, and have always been a fan of Donovan. So, one would think I'd be happy about this, but I think my concern for the ability of our Offensive line to protect him kinda dilutes my enthusiasm. + Who does he throw too? P.S. I'm not sold on the whole idea of the Larry Johnson, Clinton Portis and "Fast " Willie Parker veteran running back corps. being thrown at the NFC East defenses as a good idea. Just to throw that out there....
  4. I would think a little bit of toothpaste might bring out a shine; ( I don't really know where I'm getting this from, something in the back of my head that I picked up somewhere/sometime). Full disclosure: I gotta couple of old LPs and I don't polish them at all, so my advice is probably pretty useless overall. Buying a new one seems like a rational solution too tho.
  5. I almost picked that one up this past weekend. Let us know what you think. NR:
  6. This was exactly what I expected it to be. Which means if, like me your a fan of Wes Anderson films you going to enjoy it. I never paid much attention to the press on this one, so I went in pretty much with just the basic concept of the plot and a curiosity of the dynamics therein. Of the three principals Gyllenhaal comes across as the most genuine. Maguire is somewhat convincing but even in the scenes where he becomes un-hinged you often get the sense that he's really not exploiting the characters' inner struggles for all they're worth. Portman feels like window dressing and some of th
  7. Un huh. Something I'm digging they added this week, a "reasonably priced" 53 LP that's been slightly altered.
  8. I kinda love Alligator too since it was my introduction to 'em. QFT. Just watched the performance last night. And then I remembered I have tickets for 4/22&4/23 ! Also, it's been mentioned before in other threads but bears repeating: Bryan Devendorf is a hell of a drummer.
  9. Sure. First find your image and the corresponding URL for it. (EX. http://upload.wikime...udsplitter.jpg) Next, on the Toolbar when replying to a post, find the "insert image icon", click that and enter your target URL. Click "Insert image" and there you are. NR:
  10. Do you reccomend that? I've had it a pile of books I picked up since last spring but haven't been compelled to pick it up. NR: Picked this up Saturday afternoon and I'm almost done with it. A nice read and so far I've really enjoyed the reflections of how the connection with Jeff Magnum came about and the background on the Elephant 6 Collective.
  11. This was very good. Ferguson is a sharp guy. Id love to see more of this type of thing from him.
  12. I believe so. No, not mine. You got me interested so I did a quick Flickr search and sorted it by recent uploads.
  13. Me too. Fretboard inlays look similar, as does the shape of the truss rod cover.
  14. This thing? Not sure what it is....it looks kinda like an old Kay style headstock... ?
  15. Man I hate my new corporate firewall! NP:
  16. Vibes and all the best wishes for the future. Major change is certainly difficult but trust me, good things can come from it. Hang in there. It gets better.
  17. Yeah...that image is a little bit scary.
  18. I was thinking about this after I finished it: "Was it really the work (the novel/story) or is it the reader (me) and where I am right now. Because, honestly this is his first book I didn't enjoy. I really liked "Book of illusions". I was interested in the main character, his life falling apart and then recovering by starting on the project with the "lost films". That leading into the main part of the story with the resurrection of the long thought dead silent era star and elements of his back-story. That was compelling and interesting and it moved along at a good pace: Auster revealing elem
  19. Since I recall you, like I, am a pretty big Auster fan I'd reccomend you skip this one. I had to struggle through it. NR:
  20. Good shot of a 1970 model currently available.
  21. So did I. A very graceful exit. Blunt, yes..but I happen to agree. BTW. Many of you guys are aware how Conan has supported the White Stripes over the years and how often they appeared on the old LNw/C.O. As a fan of both I was kinda hoping they'd somehow come together for Conan's final Tonight Show. Jack White plays an old sixties Silvertone 1485 amplifier; (only guitar geeks know this obscure stuff, so bare with me here a moment). A 'large-ish" silver-grey thing w/ aluminum panels and sparkly grill cloth that looks like an old 60s radio set on steroids. You don't see them around
