  1. I did go to the Pavement Museum and will post about it here because others may be interested. If you want to know more, you know how to find me. There were some very interesting artifacts, ranging from Malkmus’s original notebooks (I took a pic of the page with a bit of Summer Babe), a page of unused checks from the Pavement, Inc. checkbook, passport photos of all 4 band members, to gold records, an MTV award, and hours of video. There were tons of posters, ads, fanzines, t-shirts, artwork. I stayed about half an hour. I could have stayed for hours and watched a lot
  2. Ok, this is probably one of the most outrageous things I’ve seen yet: Almost Queen, a Queen tribute band, is charging $100 + $25 fees = $125 for the best seats at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ. A tribute band! I’ve seen them and they’re very good, but holy cow, that price for a tribute band???!!!! Maybe some insane people will pay that much for a tribute band.
  3. I’m not going to the show, but am thinking of going to the Pavement Museum this afternoon. Have fun!
  4. Compared to what has happened to the price of concert tickets?? I am on the verge of being priced out of live music, but tomorrow I will see two movies at AMC for $5 each on Discount Tuesday.
  5. I had never heard anything by this band until just now when I watched their performance on James Corden from the other night. It was definitely interesting, and it’s always good to hear a new band that plays rock music. I will check out their first album based on your recommendation.
  6. Marshall did a very good job! They were all very respectful of Pat’s memory.
  7. Same. 40 minutes from my house, but still free and no transportation hassles. Transportation hassles/lack thereof has become an increasingly important deciding factor for me these days.
  8. In NJ, it hasn’t been outrageously hot, but it’s been outrageously dry. Everything is dying. We had a solid day of rain yesterday, but it was too late for a lot of plants. My astilbe garden is dead. It was fine until it wasn’t. Everywhere you look, there are dead shrubs and trees. I’ve never seen it this bad.
  9. The Dizzy Heights show here was also fantastic. No special guests, but it was in a tiny venue (Le Poisson Rouge), and the entire thing was pure class. It’s incredible to me that was 9 years ago, and was the last time I saw Neil! I saw/heard the Glastonbury set and sorry but was not impressed with Neil’s grandson! LOL. There comes a point where including everyone in the family gets to be ridiculous. How old is Buddy? 7 or so?
  10. I was talking with my local Finn fan friend today and we realized the last time Neil played in the NYC area was 9 years ago, in support of Dizzy Heights. (Not including Fleetwood Mac, which I did not attend, as I am solidly in Camp Lindsey.)
  11. That's two shows gone for me. I fully expect the show in Red Bank, NJ to be canceled due to low ticket sales. Shows in Ohio and Detroit have already been canceled. Last I looked a few weeks ago, those were selling poorly as well. I'm sorry Elroy is injured, but color me just a little suspicious about the timing of this.
  12. Fleet Foxes, very unexpectedly!
  13. Her album of Dylan covers is very good, isn’t it? I have to admit I didn’t expect it to be as good as it is.
  14. Looks like whoever is sick, must have got sick in NYC. Sorry you have to miss out again.
  15. Today I was going to buy a $35 ticket to see Demetri Martin in September. Went to check out and the total was $55. That’s a 57% increase in the ticket price due to fees. That may be a record, as far as what I’ve come across. I cancelled the sale. Sorry Demetri.
  16. Yikes, you thought about going to a hospital? Sorry to hear. I’ve been very successful at concerts wearing a KN95, although the last two I’ve been to (most recent was last night), I was one of only a small handful of people wearing any mask at all. I felt like an idiot, but was undeterred. I have my last show for a while on Sunday. Cases are dropping around here. I feel like I’m going to have to suck it up and just get it and get it over with in the near future, because I don’t think it’s going away. I have a serious health condition, as I know you do, but I don’t think it wi
  17. Glad to hear! I’ve been wondering how you’ve been doing, so I’m happy you checked in. It sounds like it wasn’t an easy bout of it for you though.
  18. Wow, talk about bad luck. Thankfully he does not seem to have punctured a lung, which is what happened to my cousin’s husband recently when he was in an accident that broke a similar number of ribs. Hoping John gets well soon!
  19. So sorry to hear! I have been to two very crowded standing room shows in the past two weeks, was one of about 5 people at each show wearing a KN95. I honestly thought I would catch it anyway, but amazingly, I have not! Good luck with the Paxlovid. My doc said call him ASAP when I get Covid and he will prescribe Paxlovid for me as well. And yes, at this point I know it’s when, not if. I hope you don’t get Paxlovid rebound!
  20. Did they enjoy it? He must seem like an ancient man to your kids, no?
