I saw an article somewhere the other day that talked about his new wife - number 7. I think she is 24 years old. I think he has Steve Earle beat. Trivia: One of his former wives is Ron Blair's sister (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers bass player).

Pre-order for the live album (Wiser For The Time). It's 70 bucks. I guess the only digital download is going to be through iTunes. That's a shame. I was hoping they were going to offer a FLAC download.

Warren probably had something to do with the Dead covers. I think I recall reading somewhere that he stated he wouldn't play with the band anymore unless they worked up some new tunes. This was about ten years ago. I recall someone - Butch maybe - saying if you think about it: Daune played slide for about 3 years, Derek has been at it since he was a little kid. I use to compare them, but I don't any more. I think Duane had such a presence and/or distinctive sound that he stands out from the crowd.

From what I have read, Gregg was not too fond of the Grateful Dead's music. I can only hope they don't end up doing a covers album.

That's the line-up I saw. They still play some of those songs. At least I know they have played Blue Sky and Jessica. I have not listened to those reunion albums in years. I listen to Hittin' the Note every once in a while. I wonder if they will make another studio album. The way Butch talks - they are not far from retiring.

I would disagree with that term also. Warren has been in the band sine 1989, Oteil since 1997, and Derek since 1999. Of course, they had several dudes in the band since the last time they re-formed. But I think that is typical with a band that has been around since 1969. The reason Dickey was asked to leave was due to the fact he was too wasted to play. I think there was also some sort of falling out on the business side of things. If Gregg hangs it up, and they bring in a dude who sounds like him - then I will agree with you.

I've been playing the first album for over 30 years now. When I was young, it was all about Carlos, but now it's about the drums. The trio of Michael/Michael/Chepito made great music. Although really - it's was all of them together. Caravanserai is where I stop - pretty much.

He was in Dickey's band and then went on to play with the Brothers during the Enlightened Rouges/Reach For The Sky/Brothers of The Road era. I think I have Enlightened Rouges on cassette. But I don't have the other two albums. I don't much care for what they were doing on those albums.

He probably means he is going to make a crappy album and have Greg, Michael, and Neal play on it. I wish he would start releasing live shows from 1968-1973. The line-up of Carlos, Greg, David, Michael Shrieve, Michael Carabello, and Chepito are my favorite band in a lot of ways.
