  1. A lot of bands are doing this now - Pearl Jam led the way. Instant Live is another company doing this.
  2. There are some great drums on that album - but no bass! I wonder who mixed it. ha ha I don't own anything by any of those bands - except a couple of Anthrax tapes. I missed out on that whole hardcore-metal thing. I like one Ted Nugent song though - Great White Buffalo.
  3. Did you see the final show? They actually sounded ok - at least for little bit of time they had to practice.
  4. I'm just glad they are done with Bob Rock - I detest his sound as much as I detest the work of Kevin Shirely. I stopped listening to these guys after Justice For All.
  5. Someone here can yousendit to you - or try dimeadoze, Btree, or bootcity.
  6. I could have and may very well have seen them in some bars back in the day. I don't really recall those times though. I still have a drawer full of Metallica t-shirts.
  7. Well, at least he got cleaned up. I was hoping he would mash Lars in the face - I think the old James would have - I have read that Rick Rubin is going to produce their next album.
  8. Quite a different beast than Cliff Em All. I have only seen parts of it - VH1 shows it every so often.
  9. Any of you dudes seen Some Kind Of Monster?
  10. I own a well-played copy of Cliff 'Em All on VHS.
  11. I live in WV, Miss Via Troy lives near Albany.
  12. These are the episodes he filmed before he walked away last year. I have read that he did not want Comedy Central to show them.
  13. A lot of that stuff was recorded in Brian's house. Also, you are hearing stereo tracks as opposed to mono, individual vocals instead of group vocals, and the work of Stephen Desper (enigineer) among other things. Also - I think they went from 4 track to 8 track recording by the time.
  14. As many readers surely know, on December 31, 1999, Phish ushered in the new Millennium with a 7 hours and 45 minute set in the Big Cypress. Since then, the Vermont quartet has held the record for longest continuous concert by a jamband. Over Independence Day weekend, however, Virginia's ZEN broke Phish's record, performing for 20 straight hours at Snowshoe Mountain, WV's The "All Together" Jam Marathon. All proceeds from the group's marathon event benefited New Orleans' Musicians who lost their instruments in Hurricane Katrina. ZEN performs next at Albany, NY's JAHFest.
  15. I have been listening to both bands since I was about 6 years old - so I say these things out of the love I have for them both. It's just a shame The Beach Boys always get tagged as unimportant due to not having "deep lyrics" or a "heavy image". If you listen to ltheir later stuff or view later images of them, you can see that they actually did change with the times - but they had been marked as unhip by then - so no one paid any attention. When Pet Sounds came out Capitol put out a greatist hits album - as they were not pleased with Pet Sounds - just as Mike Love was not. Why? Becasue B
  16. Thora Birch's mother Carol Connors, use to be a porn actress.
  17. So what - only Bob Dylan was doing anything differenet then. The lyrics fit the songs. Or form follows function. As for studio trickery - Sgt. Pepper is all about that: ADT, sped up tapes, massive overdubbing, etc. There is no way in hell The Beatles could hold a candle to the vocals of The Beach Boys.
  18. Do a google search using the words Paul McCartney and Pet Sounds - see what you find.
  19. Sloop John B was put on there on there by the record company - Brian did not want it on there. This album is really a journey about one's (Brian's) coming of age and the confusion he was going through as people were calling him a genius, Capitol demanding more "hits", (no putting out a record every couple of years then, folks) and his desire to create something outside the limits of the three minute single.
  20. Something Wicked This Way Comes?
