What was the best "non-Wilco" set at Solid Sound?
bill39me replied to rhino4evr's topic in Just A Fan
Big Thief for me - their second song "Mary" gave me goose-bumps.... -
Hello all - I am Bill - my wife Elizabeth and I are headed down from Maine - my 5th Solid Sound and her 3rd - camping at Solid Ground - third time in a row. Also have tickets for the Portland show (July 30th)

Have to say that I really like what I have heard from Big Thief - try the songs "Masterpiece" or "Paul" for starters... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oacUgWXrqwc *Admin edit: I have tucked in the video for Masterpiece for you. Good stuff! -
Masterpiece by Big Thief is a really good record - spent the weekend alternating that and the new Ryan Adams (which is also pretty great).

Wilco @ Bull Moose records Scarborough Maine
bill39me replied to godsh8pedhole's topic in After The Show
Being a "local" the other cool thing with Bull Moose is that they will often release the in store performance on CD (not sure about vinyl) - they have done that in the past with Mumford & Sons / Ani DiFranco / Decemberists and others - the release usually coincides with Record Store Day.... -
That was indeed the show at the pier with Conor Oberst opening - was an awesome show - also saw them in Lowell MA the same week - great show until the rains came...

So excited - got my Portland, ME tickets no problem this morning - sort of a trip down memory lane as the first time I ever saw Wilco was at the State back in '02 - nice to see the full band coming back (last time in Maine was '09) although Jeff solo and Tweedy (the band) have been here since... HAPPY

This has been his love and his life and it is with regret that The Maestro finds it necessary, at this time, to take a much needed break from the demands of his constant touring schedule. This brief hiatus will allow the time to re-charge his health and vitality. Taj promises to be back in August with refre

Getting ready to pack the car - Brattleboro, VT tonight - Solid Ground tomorrow

Other than the new material which really works live (with one or two exceptions), Handshake Drugs was the highlight of the show - I have seen that performed a number of times but last night both Nels and Pat brought it up to another level entirely... Venue was great, sound was stellar but the ushers were a tad bit distracting especially as they paraded late arrivals in through Nick Lowe's set...

Same deal here - I called Front Gate yesterday and they said they were having "e-mail glitches" with the Print Pass instructions and told me to wait a week and if I didn't hear anything to call back

So I too logged on right at 10:30 and clicked on the super early bird tickets and after typing in the secret code (Stompbox) I got so excited when checking out that I entered the wrong expiration date on my credit card which promptly rejected - by then the tickets were gone so I "settled" for the $99 ones - not complaining though...
