There are few songs in rock history as good as Marquee Moon. I didn't request it, but I sure hope they play it.

Amazing. Someone's got time on his hands. Great job. Very psyched this is coming out of the vault. Listening to my disc right now, Jerry shredding on the wah wah on Greatest Story. Head exploding.

Remember that naked guy on the pole over Garcia's shoulder during Dark Star (I think it's during Dark Star)? I always wonder where he is now.
-
The audio and video is outstanding! What an upgrade from what's been circulating. Hope they do a dvd/blu-ray release of this. Might be just what I need to finally toss the dvd player and get a blu-ray.

Yeah, it's about time, Sunshine Daydream being released to theaters "glorious HD resolution" and hope a DVD/Blu-Ray release will follow." One of the greatest of all the Grateful Dead performances. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/118725/Grateful-Dead-Sunshine-Daydream-Coming-To-Theaters

I was off the bus from about '81-'87, so missed all those '84 shows folks are sharing about. Got back on for good at MSG, this show being a principal reason why, just came across this full show video. For those who may not be familiar, I highly recommend the second set.

I have a countdown app on my phone. I can set up different events to count down to and pin to my start screen. Looking at it right now, 16 days to Solid Sound it says! Yeah, really. I was wondering the same.

Colt Park was one of the weirdest nights I ever had. Can't comment on the playing though.

Anybody read this? http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9339331/after-30-years-consider-phish-great-band Nothing particularly revealing here, but a shoutout to Wilco: "The other kind of greatness derives from never being less than good (and staying connected to a sizable core audience) over many years. U2, R.E.M., Sonic Youth, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, and Wilco are the most notable recent examples of this lived-in greatness — and so is Phish, though it rarely gets mentioned in this company."

Thank you, I needed that.

I believe so. Saturday single day sold out a week or 2 ago. First year we were staying at a bed and breakfast with some folks from VT who were friends with the promoter (is Higher Ground involved), and was told that they were at about maybe 60% capacity. That number could be off, but they had hoped to sell a lot more tickets than they did. I'm a little fearful that it will be noticeably more crowded this year. Not that there's anything wrong with being at a festival of Wilco fans! But, one of the charms of SS1 and SS2 was the absence of long lines for food and beverages and restrooms, a

NYE 12-31-73 from Winterland is outstanding. I think it's 4 discs, including a 3rd set early morning blues jam session with Garcia and Boz Scaggs. I'd be happy to set you up with discs or a Dropbox link.

I just pulled out my original vinyl, it has to be an original pressing, and it sounded great. Hadn't listened to it in a million years. So I guess I don't "need" the new 200 gram vinyl, and will most likely go for the live collection.
-
So if I want the vinyl, I don't get the discs? Looks like I would have to make 2 purchases.

Historic performance. I'm with mountain bed, Sets 2 (and 3) are among my favorite sets of all time. I have the poster for this show hanging in my office.
-
I never acquired an ear for Victim, to this day.
-
Possibly the best Dew ever? That means I should definitely check it out.
-
Yes, and the Eyes>Estimated is not too shabby. I wasn't their either, but the tape circulated pretty quickly on the WELL. Blew me away.
-
I know from friends they did some, or at least one, epic shows in Maine during this period. Among their favorite shows of all time. I've still never listened, but this has prompted me to get to it.
-
'90 MSG too. And '91 Boston. And the first Branford show at Nassau, what was that, March '90?
-
Funny, I was off the bus from '81-87, and never listen to any shows from the '81-84 era!
-
I thought '90 and '91 were great years. Some of those Hornsby shows are among me favorite GD shows of all.
-
Agree, Jerry looked absolutely terrible in '94 and '95. There were nights we thought he was just going to die on stage. (Albany, Spring '95). He was huge, and spent 99% of the shows hunched over his guitar, no eye contact with the band, not interactive at all. 50/50 he would get the vocals correct even with a teleprompter. There were a couple of gem shows in there, but the % of great GD shows was way down in those years. The last great run of shows I saw was Boston '91. Saw all the Boston and Albany shows in 93, '94 and spring '95, there were some good ones, but it was obvious to me tha

Re: CVB vs. Cracker, significant difference in the music between the bands to my ears, probably mostly to do with the prominent role of the violin in CVB. I'm with remphish1 on this, I wouldn't knock seeing CVB in any respect, but I vastly prefer Cracker. Love Hickman's playing, and I think the Cracker songbook is much stronger. In fact, I love the Cracker songbook. This tour has been coming to Cambridge every January now for several years, didn't see it this year because of the Pats game, so I last saw them in January 2012. Brought my then 22 year old son and his buddy. Even though he
